The take away here is you are playing lousy, fake a sprained ankle.I agree with not losing your job to injury. I agree with losing your job for turning the damn ball over too much in your first two games here.
I don’t put too much into the wins/losses. What if the games had been reversed and HH played opening week and also at Colorado would he be 2-0? Same for Sims, might he be 2-0 if he played NIU and La Tech? I’d start HH but Sims needs a shot at playing as wellSims: 0-2
HH: 2-0
I don't know how you don't start HH.
Sorry, but I don't see a rotation working. I can just see us being overly predictable and running zone-read type stuff every time Sims is in. Then trying to pass when Haarberg is in.This will likely be an unpopular post but I'll say it anyway.
This is kind of a weird year QB wise as none of the QBs have shown much in the passing game. While I'm generally opposed to rotating QBs, it's something I'd at least consider given the hot and mostly cold nature of the passing game so far this season. Haarberg should absolutely start, he's the only QB on the roster that's won games this season.
That said, if he's struggling in the passing game and the game is somehow still within striking distance (like mid 2nd quarter, mid 3rd quarter timeframe), I'm not opposed to seeing Simms get a series or two just to see if he's able to get anything going. Even if he's able to get something going, I'd have a quick trigger back to Haarberg due to the turnover issues Simms has had this season.
I fully expect Michigan to win by a bunch so I'm not really going to be mad either way unless a guy keeps turning the ball over or it's 3 & out every drive and they keep trotting him out there. Michigan is well coached all the way around and they've got much better players on defense than Nebraska does on offense so I expect it to be a struggle.
Of course La Tech showed enough blitz packages that ate our lunch, we will see plenty more of it.I think our defense is going to keep us in a lower scoring game than most expect. You know, the type of game where a turnover or two will just kill us.
Haarberg is the guy.
I think if Haarberg would have started the Minnesota game the Huskers would have won. Probably not against CU. Sims would have turned the ball over against both NIU and La Tech.I don’t put too much into the wins/losses. What if the games had been reversed and HH played opening week and also at Colorado would he be 2-0? Same for Sims, might he be 2-0 if he played NIU and La Tech? It's pretty crazy how people seem to be minimizing or forgetting how incredibly bad Sims' turnovers were. Also, there seems to be an assumption that he'll magically fix that issue. I don't get it.I think if Haarberg would have started the Minnesota game the Huskers would have won. Probably not against CU. Sims would have turned the ball over against both NIU and La Tech.
Haarberg got away with a few throws in his starts that should've ended up being a pick. It's pretty crazy how people seem to be minimizing or forgetting how incredibly bad Sims' turnovers were. Also, there seems to be an assumption that he'll magically fix that issue. I don't get it.
Agreed. HH has looked bad in the pass game. Hopefully his feet and overall command of the O can get us to a bowl this year, but we are going to need another portal QB and multiple recruits ASAP!Haarberg got away with a few throws in his starts that should've ended up being a pick.
24/47 for 278 yards, 11.6 ypc, 4 td's and 0 Int is winning football for this weak of an offense.Haarberg got away with a few throws in his starts that should've ended up being a pick.
Good for 2 wins against terrible defensive units.24/47 for 278 yards, 11.6 ypc, 4 td's and 0 Int is winning football for this weak of an offense.
1 td for each 6 completions, 1 td for each 12 attempts. Against weaker competition though.
As I said, weaker competition. Probably has the same against those juggernauts from MINN and CU though.Good for 2 wins against terrible defensive units.
Agree, I think Michigan smothers HH and the husker offense overall. This week will tell alot about HH.
I think he's the guy regardless though...doesn't seem to be much of a point to going back to Sims.
You must have been editing when I was replying....lolAs I said, weaker competition. Probably has the same against those juggernauts from MINN and CU though.
I'm hoping we're not at the point of worrying about "style points" when we win. In this program, a win is a win.
Until HH starts to pitch the ball, he's gonna get smoked by a real good defense. This week will tell alot about HH.
I think he's the guy regardless though...doesn't seem to be much of a point to going back to Sims.
No, my original posts says "Against weaker competition though." Exact quote from my original post JOHNNY.You must have been editing when I was replying....lol
I swear your second paragraph was not there when I hit reply. No, my original posts says "Against weaker competition though." Exact quote from my original post JOHNNY.
I don't think so JOHNNY. Anytime I edit my original wording or meaning, I always put **Edited** to indicate I changed the original word.I swear your second paragraph was not there when I hit reply.
why? there are zero things sims does better than HaarbergHaarberg until Sims is 100%, then he'll take the starting role back.
its all hindsight, but I think we get on the scoreboard the first half against Colorado if Haarberg is the QB and we could ground and pound those guys the rest of the game. Defense just got too tired of Jeffs turnovers.I think if Haarberg would have started the Minnesota game the Huskers would have won. Probably not against CU. Sims would have turned the ball over against both NIU and La Tech.
He's actually a better passer.why? there are zero things sims does better than Haarberg
Keep Sims on bench until he is close to 100%. Then gradually work him back in. This will keep the more effective player (HH) on the field for more snaps. Those two can share the position. Why? Because he have to use the QB as a runner this year. Both of those guys can hurt teams on the ground, but neither should be able to carry 20 a game and stay healthy.Call it.
Anything is possible, this computer is jacked up today, and then just finally froze up so I had to reboot.I swear your second paragraph was not there when I hit reply.
Either way I wasn't accusing you of nefarious editing....I really didn't see your second paragraph, and after I hit the post button I saw it and realized that my response became unnecessary.I don't think so JOHNNY. Anytime I edit my original wording or meaning, I always put **Edited** to indicate I changed the original word.
It IS possible I did change that while you were replying, so I wouldn't swear to it. No big deal either way.
Believe it or not, I tend to go over my post 2-3 times for punctuation, grammar, paragraphs, etc before I hit send. But, sometimes I do go back in and change something, but always try to put **Edit* so the reader knows I changed the original post someway.
Thanks for bringing that up, I'll try to make sure I do that, cause I don't want any confusion. LOL
**Edited** Kinda like when you removed your LOL from your post. LOL
But his field vision is terrible. He threw a few ridiculous interceptions that a power 5 QB should not do. Until I see that out of HH. I want the guy in that doesn't turn the ball over. He's actually a better passer.
But the "why" is because that's the way Rhule sees it.
Its all good, I am a serial editor so I wouldn't swear to anything I post on here. LOLEither way I wasn't accusing you of nefarious editing....I really didn't see your second paragraph, and after I hit the post button I saw it and realized that my response became unnecessary.
After Michigan, NU is only screwed if Sims is healthy and HH is too banged up to go. If NU is stuck with Sims, NU likely lose 2-3 games they "might" have won with HH less the turnovers. But his field vision is terrible. He threw a few ridiculous interceptions that a power 5 QB should not do. Until I see that out of HH. I want the guy in that doesn't turn the ball over.
Agreed. HH doesn't see the field any better, and isn't as accurate. But his field vision is terrible. He threw a few ridiculous interceptions that a power 5 QB should not do. Until I see that out of HH. I want the guy in that doesn't turn the ball over.
I fire from the hip so often around here that I find myself editing posts that are weeks old...Its all good, I am a serial editor so I wouldn't swear to anything I post on here. LOL
Most of us agree with this.. said most of us..Agreed. HH doesn't see the field any better, and isn't as accurate.
Full disclosure: I don't think there's a correct answer here. They are both very limited as quarterbacks.
