Even Frost acts like its no big deal and he should make it! No way is this kid getting a 24! What am I missing here??

Well now if that’s true.... That’s the horse of a different color you’ve heard about... 19&20 is doable!

It was listed as 24 back when this first came out!

24 is either the date of the exam or when he is supposed to get his results back. I don’t think they allow special ACT testing dates and the last one listed for the 2017/2018 school year is July 14. It takes normally 10 days for the results to come back. So I believe tomorrow is when he is supposedly supposed to know if he got the score needed. The article below from the OWH, though, says he is supposed to take it tomorrow. Just don’t know how he got a special testing date. If true, he should know his status around next weekend.

If a kid hasn't learned it in 4 years of school yet, it's hard for some kids to get much above a 20, even if they study for it every night like he says he's been doing.

Plus the test is quite a bit different than what you normally learn in school. It's designed to where you should be able to adapt what you know from schooling to take the test but rarely covers the same concepts. If a kid has been struggling in school, it's likely he's going to struggle on the test too no matter how much he goes over the material.

One of the other posters clarified My misunderstanding...... he needs 20 not 24!

My kids were A students and never came close to 24.... that’s why I said what I said!

That's kind of surprising. A 24 is probably near the floor of what I would expect the average A student to score without some serious grade inflation. A 24 is the 74th percentile....good, certainly not great.

Pretty sure 22 was the best of the three! One was Deans list in college and I believe he got 21.

Somehow my son is intelligent and got a 31 . Got it back the same day he tore his acl at practice . One door closes another one opens .

Same score I got, but I never had any realistic athletic aspirations so he has that on me.;) I scored a good bit higher than both my parents and my older sister, but I wouldn't say I'm any more intelligent than them, and in fact I'd suggest the opposite. ALOT of it is just about test taking ability and knowing the strategies to use. There is certainly a ceiling for what someone can get based on intelligence, but with the right "coaching" on test taking improving several points isn't that crazy.

Just an FYI, he needs a 20(I believe) just to be a partial qualifier and take an academic redshirt. He doesn't have enough core classes to be a full qualifier. This is how it was explained to me.

Some people do well on standardized testing and some do not. Some struggle with a timed format that creates pressure to do things quickly. Different brains process things at different speeds. It is one of the reasons that SAT and ACT scores are only part of the equation.

Surprised at the lack of regaling about knocking out a perfect ACT score after slopping hogs at dawn and then walking uphill in the snow to the testing facility. But the thread’s in its early stages!

20 is the score he needs now. I think the score he needs was variable depending on how he finished up in his school classes.

Tell that to Rain Man. He practically bankrupt a casino and he was a ratard.

lets say he has a great guessing day and gets a 27 does that affect his partial qualifier status or anything 20 and above is all the same in that status?

I got a 21 my first time taking it and that’s all I needed for my basketball scholarship so I stopped. Mom told me I’d regret not taking it again to see how well I could do but that day hasn’t arrived yet! Lol

I don’t think it matters. He doesn’t have the core GPA of 2.3. So assuming he has a 2.0, I think the 20 is what he needs to be an academic redshirt. However, since he doesn’t have the 2.3 GPA he could score 36 and still not be fully eligible.

If you had learned to spell “go” you might have had a higher score.

Just saying.

"If you have not met all the Division I academic requirements, you may not compete in your first year at college. However, if you qualify as an academic redshirt you may practice during your first term in college and receive an athletics scholarship for the entire year.

To qualify as an academic redshirt, you must graduate high school and meet ALL the following academic requirements:

  • Complete 16 core courses:
    • Four years of English
    • Three years of math (Algebra 1 or higher)
    • Two years of natural/physical science (including one year of lab science if your high school offers it)
    • One additional year of English, math or natural/physical science
    • Two years of social science
    • Four additional years of English, math, natural/physical science, social science, foreign language, comparative religion or philosophy
  • Earn at least a 2.0 GPA in your core courses.
  • Earn an SAT combined score or ACT sum score matching your core-course GPA on the Division I sliding scale."
So as i read it he is less than 2.3 on core courses but does have 2.0 or better , what he needs in the Sat will depend on where his GPA ended up

The problem is, he hasn't passed the 16 core classes needed for qualification. Not sure what his GPA is, but he needs a 20, so that may give you an idea on the sliding scale.

I'm sorry. Idk who he is, but I want to support him!

I got a 26. I still went to UNL. I graduated from UNL. I have spent years to get hired. I am now still unhired.
