He was Leach’s last DC, right? He and Holgorsen would have a common connection in that way.Zach Arnett is a Rocky Long disciple, like Tony White.

"I think what's important to me is I like the way we play defense. I like this defense. I like these fronts. I like the multiplicity of what we did. We did some different things against Iowa which I thought was great so I don't want to switch to something different. I want to do this defense. Whoever that is, I don't want to make that decision for the short term where we all feel good about it. I don't want to make a splashy hire."That's what Rhule wants to run and I can't believe he'd take a chance bringing in a DC who hasn't run it. That narrows down the potential DC pool A LOT.
3-3-5 blows! If your front three get no penetration, or your linebackers aren’t gap savvy and over pursue and your DB’s can’t tackle consistently, game over.!
Play the line of scrimmage with 6 (corners cover at LOS) and blitz often enough to not get caught with pants down on a screen..but that’s just my easy chair watching observation.
Jay Moore verbalized the same sentiment earlier this week.Thing I've learned about defense is. Generally the better your players are the more likely you are to be able to play good defense.
With good players we can play 3-4,5-2,4-3, or any other variations. As long as the concepts are sound and players talented most any defense will work.
Gimme a coach who teaches discipline and playing fast in defense. Then put some dudes in there. We would be fine playing anything

Yep. It's called preaching and consistency is not essential. In other words, hypocrisy is forgiven. What Rhule says and what he does are often quite different. Let’s see if we end up with a 3-3-5 guy.
Get out of here with that nonsense."I think what's important to me is I like the way we play defense. I like this defense. I like these fronts. I like the multiplicity of what we did. I don't see the numbers 3-3-5. My opinion is that people are reading too much into a base defense and thinking it has to be a 3-3-5 coordinator. Why can't it be a 3-3 stack guy or a 4-2-5 guy that can be multiple and drop into a 3-3-5 when needed.
We took our lumps for a couple years when we switched from the 5-2 to the 4-3 until we got enough horsesThing I've learned about defense is. Generally the better your players are the more likely you are to be able to play good defense.
