What's this weight room issue?

  • Thread starter anon_umk0ifu6vj6zi

Non issue. Check it: They should only keep weight room records for teams that have won at least a conference championship. If you are a part of a National Title team your records numerical value is doubled. First prize is a Cadillac Eldorado, second prize is a set of steak knives... third prize is you're fired! If you are not a champion who cares how many burpees you can do?

Rack 'em up boys! Croot coaches! Freak out fans! Fall is a long way off and we all have a lot of work to do. GBR!

Why is it so hard to believe that Boyd is just trying to line everything up from when he was gone with his own performance index formula?
You mean what they said months ago?

Sorry, but I don't blame Kenny or anyone else for bringing this to light. While many in the Athletic Department would rather erase the Callahan and Pelini eras, if you were a player and you heard all records were coming down, you'd be pissed too. I think Boyd fixed the issue but wouldn't have had this attention not been brought up.

I'm glad they are addressing and it should be over but it was reasonable to be brought up.

Kenny Bell said Eichorst was the one behind it. It was pointed put that Epley said this was going to happen months ago. How the hell does that make it something for #80 to piss his pants over? Oh that's right, it doesn't. If Kenny has such a problem with this place now, you would think he would find somewhere else to train for free.

Except no records are coming down. Never were.

What issue was fixed? What they're now doing was the plan the entire time.
Glad to see you know more than former and current players who...ummmmm...work out there.

p.s. I guess when the Athletic Department says that the records that were taken down will now be "restored" they are lying.

It would be hypocritical for me to say that I didn't pop-off in knee jerk fashion to "authority" when I was Kenny's age if I perceived my buddies or I were wronged. I probably went so far as to suggest there was a conspiracy against me making the perceived wrong happen. The difference was - I had mature adults mentoring me to think before I shouted, take time to see various points of view, talk about it quietly with a suspected antagonist before making a big deal out of it, etc. Kenny unfortunately did not have that mentoring, and in fact, was influenced by someone who was extreme in the areas of anger and reaction.

Look up "restored". It will help your vocabulary.
So what's the problem here?

1. Records were set using standards not consistent with other years.

2. Epley goes on record saying he wants to bring them all under consistent measuring points.

3. Some former players call foul.

4. Epley says we'll keep the records no matter how they were tested according to athletic department released and quoted earlier in the thread.

I don't have a problem at all with Epley wanting to streamline everything. On the other hand, if there are a multitude of former players saying this isn't fair, the athletic department did right by letting things stand.

If everything gets streamlined, it should not be seen as a knock against Callahan or Pelini era players, although that is exactly how it is getting painted, both by some former players and by some stir the pot posters...

Working out there or not means nothing. All that matters is if you know what the intentions of Boyd and the Athletic Dept were. To prove what I just said KB admitted not knowing the entire situation in his tweet and thanked Boyd for his classification.

My understanding was that record holder names were all going to be put back up this entire time, but with different numbers (the streamlined numbers).

But he said to radio guys that it came from Eichorst, not Boyd. #80 still has not owned up to his bullshit. So yes, #80 should find somewhere else if Nebraska is out to get him.

So Foreman is a liar. Tulsa Tom says so. I am sure the other 99 percent besides your fellow paranoid contrarian are too. Well done, lying preacher.

Evidently you have not looked up "restored" yet. The records were taken away and were not going to be put back up. I think Ameer is a straight shooter...I believe current players who stuck out their neck for former teammates. So, go ahead and call Ameer a liar. Call the Foltz a liar. Shoot, call Epley liar.

Boyd made a stupid mistake. He corrected it. Maybe you should let it go.

Who said they were not going to be put back up? This is where I am confused...

Also, just because someone perceives something doesn't make it reality. If it was reported in December that things were to be adjusted, why didn't people cry about it then?

I live in a world where people do make mistakes. Maybe Boyd made a mistake and didn't communicate the changes properly. Who knows? Or maybe some former players made a mistake and didn't understand what was communicated. This is possible too, right Tom? It only takes one player to misunderstand (sounds like Kenny misunderstood something at least) and then a bunch of other players might rush to the defense without getting the facts. We seem to see this often with the media now, why can't t happen with 22-25 year olds?

Tom, you believe what you want to believe... But that doesn't make these former players infallible. And it doesn't automatically make them right either, as you claim.

You are truly a pathetic excuse for a "preacher" it is right there in Boyd's previous statement from months ago. If you need to get hung up on your quest to make yourself feel right, so be it. Focus on that one little meaningless word to make your pathetic contrarian bullshit sound better. You and the other blotards are the only ones buying that imaginary bullshit.

bad PR move by the program. 99.999% of fans don't give 2 shits about any football lifting records and those that pretend to care probably couldn't name more than a single record holder and effort if that. There was no plus side to the move - only the potential to piss off past players and a percent of the fan base that is just waiting for something to piss and moan about.

All we care about is on the field performance.

We just had a great run of recruiting and now there is a 3 page pillow fight about lifting records

Nah....I believe Boyd. He is the only one who knew what he was going to do. After hearing the complaints he says the records will be restored. Forget about Ameer. Forget about Kenny. Forget about current players. I believe Boyd.

The plus side was to have a consistent measuring stick for the current and future players. Hard to break a record when the same rules aren't being applied.

I'm assuming under the current method it would be much more difficult to break records of past performers because of how lifts were measured.

Again, who said the records were not being put back up? Also, which current players stuck out their necks, as you say? I'm not on twitter, Facebook, instagram, or anything like that and don't know any of this. So which current huskers stuck out their necks?

I just find it hard to believe that the athletic department was gonna take down all the records during the Callahan and Pelini eras without replacing them in an acceptable way. They had to know this wouldn't be well received...

The only plausible explanation is that they were re-evaluating all the records and those who still came out on top from Callahan and Pelini era would go back on, according to the same standards everyone else tested at. But you know differently apparently.

Answering a question with a question?? I asked a question. If you don't know the answer, then simply don't respond.

But it's not nothing if players were allowed concessions during testing to benefit their results.

Well if players were allowed a slide step then it's not a valid result.

Just read past the bolded words (and obviously the question mark) below in Kaz's response. Pretty sure that's his answer to the question.

Why is it so hard to believe that Boyd is just trying to line everything up from when he was gone with his own performance index formula?

Thread stalling........Tulsa Ernie..........Must come in and fillibuster.

Wont reach Beavs 3.5 pages without you Mr Chambers

Seems to me, the one hung up on Kenny Bell, is you!

Would Ameer Abdullah or Sam Foltz, who are also complaining of the removal of records be OK with you? Or how about hearing from the guy who's name is on the facility? Would be interested to hear what Suh has to say about whats going on.

What? Kenny Bell was the first to take to twitter. Kenny Bell loves the attention. Sorry if I offended your man crush on him.

He got all of Husker Nation's attention, and even national media's attention. Mission accomplished.
