What would our record be if 1995 Tommie Frazier was our QB?

That would be a soap opera. T Frazier wouldn't put up with some of the BS going on, and he'd be hated.

Tommy would look at the game plan put together by Riley and Langsdorf and say, "Naaahhhhh...Give me the damn ball."

We would be undefeated.

We would be 2-5 with Tommie Frazier because TF would look like a different player trying to run this offense, what he brought to the table would be largely negated in this offense.

The thing about great players, is we never stop to think about where they'd be on poor teams most of the time.

With QB's in particular though, we see this all the time because of the way teams draft. Troy Aikman and Peyton Manning weren't anything special until the team around them were upgraded to make use of their talents. So we are reminded year in year out that football is a team game.

Frazier on early-mid 90's NU was a beast. And he'd still be a beast elsewhere, but probably not nearly as decorated or celebrated. Kind of interesting to think about him on a 2015 NU team, or a like a 2-10 ISU team or something.

I have to think that TF's will to win might have made some difference in at least a few games, but then again, he was a career 50% passer with a stacked OL and talent to burn all around him. Also a great runner, but we never saw him run when his G was Dylan Utter.

If I had to lay money down, I'd say 4-2 at the worst on because at Zatechka put it, we're 4-6 play outcomes flipping from being undefeated. I'd like to think TF is worth 4-6 plays in a 6 game season over TA.

just from knowing when to snap the ball and not to ever pass against illy, that would be two wins.

Probably this but we're 2-4. Please don't pencil in a loss to MN. We have a shot.

I don't know about Tommy Frazier but I would like to see what Zac Taylor and Joe Ganz could have done in this offense. With them I think we're probably 5-1 or 6-0. With the WCO I find that your team is only as good as your QB.

This is a cool question. Tommie was a top 5 (maybe number 1?) Dual thread QB coming out of high school. So he came to a power run/option system and flourished. He was a great leader, and a hell of an athlete. What if he had ended up at a K-State, or Florida State? Teams that ran some option, but also would've worked on his passing skills. With all his tools, I'm sure he would've been amazing in most offenses. I tend to agree with NewNU, I'd LOVE to see Zac Taylor in this offense, and I'm excited to see a pure passer do his thing as well when the time comes.

If T-Fraz had 35 attempts a game, you'd probably lose a fair amount. That wasn't the way to best use his talents. He was an elite runner and an adequate passer.

That's what pisses me off about the play calling. Throwing that much is asking for trouble with Armstrong. He is a FAR better runner than he is a passer. So the question is: Are you trying to WIN NOW, or are you trying to show a particular system to the recruits of tomorrow?

Same issue with Wilbon not playing at RB. Are you playing the guy who gives you the best chance to win and then calling the plays that set him up for success? Or are you aspiring to some *ideal* about what you wish football was like and making your kids suffer because they can't deliver on that?
