What is going on with the Free trial offer?

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but when signing up for the Free Trial option it is charging me a 1 year subscription price.

I decided not to renew on the other site for a number of reasons. I saw the Free Trial offer and thought I would see how I like the new Rivals site. Is this a hoax or am I making a mistake in how to sign up for the Free Trial option?

On another site years ago it took an act of Congress to terminate my paid insider access. That experience cautioned me from ever signing up for any paid membership again.

I don't know why so many things have to be such a pile of BS.
