Glad to see we've already started pointing fingers before NU even has a vacancy. The internet, I swear.
Sorry thought you were suggesting that Moos won't offer the job to SF...
For all we know he's coming.... I'm sure he wants to finish the regular season at UCF with out any announcement.
I may be a fringe element on this one. At the beginning of the Frost discussion, I saw it as a "no way", but now my opinion has shifted to definite possibility. Who ever the next coach is, I will continue to support the program.
I wonder how much of the fan base has moved from rabid to just interested, and from interested to don't care. How many people are watching games out of habit rather than a live or die Big Red. So, if it's not Frost, people are going to be waiting for the shit storm avalanche that's not coming. Sure, there'll be some noise and maybe from some influential people. But, there's a fanbase that just watched N'western win in OT at Memorial, and they just said o'well, just another Saturday.

Admittedly, I've gone from "I have to find a place to watch the game" to "I'll wait until Sunday night or Monday for someone to post it to YouTube (without commercials)."

If I see someone with Husker gear on, I usually go out of my way to talk with them (I don't live in NE anymore). I've only met one person in the last 5 years that I would still call a rabid fan. I don't have nearly the emotional investment that I used to have. So, I think a lot of fans have toned down over the last 20 or so years. But, I'll keep cheering them on.
I am guessing if one of the two options was the reason it was he was told it is over. Imagine the stress on him and everyone of not knowing. Once there is a direction even if it is he will be fired, it has to be a stress release.
How does him retiring benefit anyone? Maybe save some face for him. Does university still have to pay his buyout?
In theory you don’t have to pay the buyout for a retirement. But in a case like this, where he is clearly going to get fired, the buyout would be negotiated and paid, at least in part. The would be a lot of benefits of a retirement in our case . Both parties could save face, we could officially start our coaching by search and Riley could still coach the team the rest of the year, so we wouldn’t be quitting on the current players.

Semantics. NU has a coach that will no longer be here after Black Friday.
I have heard Frost was offered 36mill 6 year, but have not heard if it has been accepted or even if that is official. Are you hearing different?

The only way I see that happening is if he comes in here and only wins 3 or 4 games in those 2 years. Otherwise I think people will be pretty patient as long as progress is getting made.
I have not heard numbers. I wish I could get into it more, but I will just have to leave it at that.
I know this cryptic....and I am sure I will get called out for even saying what I have just said here, but I think there are a couple of people itt that are either guessing really well, or they may know something, too.

That he wants a gauranteed amount of time to get players ect in place and not be fired in 3 years?
Barring Riley pulling a Woody Hayes or an unexpected serious illness, highly unlikely.
I'm glad we don't have to speculate anymore now since its yeah well that's just like fact man
