What happens if Frost tells us no/we don't end up with him?

What if we retain HCMR and see Frost go to a different school because the timing doesn't work out? Even if the timing works out (we fire HCMR) he may even go to another school, or he may even straight up not be interested in the job at NU.

Everyone just seems so set on Forst, I just feel like the fanbase will implode if he doesn't end up here. We just have to play our cards right.

I'm sure the fanbase will be pissed...but, it's not as if the future of the program is totally dependent on Scott Frost. We are still a very attractive destination and can hopefully find the right fit.

I don't think Riley will be retained. If we get one more victory, it will occur tomorrow. Frost may or may not be our next coach. If he isn't, several board members will open up a vein.

I think it depends on how it goes down. If Frost decides to go somewhere else or stay at UCF I'm perfectly fine with that as long as he was given the option to come here and be the HC and makes the personal decision that's best for him and his family. If it turns out we went a different direction and didn't even offer him I think we can expect quite a meltdown, but I don't think that will be the case.

It is simplistic, everything happens for a reason.
If only Dr Tom would have chosen Patterson. Seems our punishment is to be always rebuilding, we will get the right coach. It was just magic the Bobfather & Dr Tom were sent to us.
Keep the faith, GBR!

Oh good God. There are a million what ifs if you want to play that game. If Frost turns down Nebraska, then they will go to the next man on their list.

Sometimes, I am fearful for the people who place too much stock in this topic and this particular coach. Life goes on.

Mike Riley will be terminated and Scott Frost will be the new head coach. Fact, not opinion.
You realize that "fact" describes a condition that presently exists or an event that has already occurred, right? Your statement, whether it is likely or not, is merely a prediction of future events. It is 100% opinion.

Riley seemed almost jovial at his PC yesterday. I'm not sure whether that means Moos told him he is good to go for another year, or if he knows his and Dee's last big adventure is over and he can move back to Corvallis.

Frost wants the job. If he declines an offer it means the AD dropped the ball somewhere.

A lot could happen, good and bad:
Bad: Riley retained. Fans have had it and will probably see less people in our stands next year. Not to mention our schedule, I don't see MR surviving this.

Good: We hire a home run coach (Chip Kelly). I think someone like Chip will erase the pain of not landing Frost.

Frost makes sense on so many levels. I'd be very shocked if he isn't the next Urban or Saban. I think he has that potential.

Moos and Green have been talking a big game, in terms of how they're going to fix the program. If they don't deliver a home run hire, they're going to hear it from the fan base.

I'd predict a lot of this:

If Frost says no, it's going to be really tough to please everybody.

Well to be fair, the decision could already have been made and it may be known by Riley. It could also be true that an agreement has been reached with Frost. The problem arises that things can change if the contract hasn't been signed. There are loose lips sometimes in the athletic department. I knew Frank was fired over a week before he was fired through a booster who was very tight with SP. I also knew that Wannstedt had agreed in principle to come to NU. Contract didn't get signed. OOOPS. Wonder if SP would have canned Frank if he had know his buddy Dave was going to back out on him. I need to look back at the timing of Wannstedts announced extension with the Dolphins.

Yep there are.

I like Frost as much as the next guy. But what I am quite sure of (and I'm just making a guess here), is that there are many other individuals in the United States that have coaching experience at the college level.

None that I know of with his level of "fit" and none who would be afforded the patience that the Jason Peters of the world are going to have to have to rebuild this sucker.

Oh look, Mr. Knowitall chimes in with his great insight! Are you going to cry when Riley is officially fired?
The irony in this post is too good... made me laugh. You present a post as if it were fact. “If Frost declines an offer it means our AD dropped the ball somewhere.” No suggestion that this is an opinion. It’s stated as a fact.

Dingle laughs because every knows it’s your opinion, and you call him Mr. knowitall.

That’s funny, Mr. Knowitall!

We'll just close the program down.

Buy what happens if Scott wears his hat the wrong way?

Why didn't the loose lips in the athletic department tell us about Mike Riley or Bill Moos? I don't remember any rumors about either of them.

I wonder if it comes out as a "retirement" sans a firing. I'm hearing some interesting things. Won't share anything else, because I was skewered for sharing something a player told my brother.
Possible I guess. Maybe the university will still give him his buyout if he voluntarily retires?

But if Frost wants the job what could possibly keep him from taking it? Short of Moos just plain not offering Frost the job.

The best thing that could possibly happen is Riley retires or resign.
