Colorado has a big task coming into Lincoln and trying to win.
Score quick and get ahead. Put the pressure on Nebraska, stay ahead and make Nebraska one dimensional. Also put some doubt in our heads, make Nebraska doubt themselves. Colorado brought in some good pass rushers in Hayes and Green, but they didn't get home against NDSU. Mix up coverages, straight up man to man is going to get ate up and the LBs will really be exposed. This is Raiola's second game, mix it up, different blitzes, different coverages, get him to make a mistake, or take more time in the pocket so the pass rush can get there. Colorado has to win first down, 2nd and 6 and Nebraska has the whole playbook available and Colorado can't stop the run without committing some extra bodies, which means back to man coverage. If Colorado can get ahead and keep Nebraska off schedule then the defense can be effective.
On offense, give up on the run. it's not going to work and just puts Colorado in a hole. Use backs and TEs to help block and for checkdowns. Use rollouts to buy time and to get someone open deep. Use screens, Nebraska will be aggressively going after Sanders, use that to Colorado's advantage. Use formations and motion to get Hunter in single coverage and chuck it up. He's great with the ball in the air, let him go get it. Avoid Hill, he's Nebraska's best coverage guy, go after the other guys. Sanders can't be afraid to run, there will be room on plays that last awhile.
Still don't think Colorado has a chance unless we screw up, but that's the best I got for them. I wouldn't be surprised if Sanders is pulled before the end of the game so he doesn't take any more hits. Robinson, Butler, Leonhardt, Hutmacher, Williams, Sherman, and Umanmielen are going to hit him hard. Pull him, save your season, this game isn't savable.
