There is a common thread between two coaching regimes and similar outcomes in games. What is that common thread? Some players. Honestly I can’t wait two years from now when some of those players have moved on. When the same players make the same mistakes, same breakdowns, same lack of effort, etc etc…no magic wand can help these players.

Have you ever worked at a place with some employees that have all the intelligence and credentials but somehow can never deliver the project on time or constantly screw up? That is what is going here in Lincoln.

Rhule apparently had to “suggest” to White that we needed to go to 4 man fronts during a game this year but at least I see in game adjustments from him that I believe he’s initiating. Players need to take accountability now also, they're getting to may $$$ to not take on some blame for lack luster performance. Time to earn those dollars!Someone has to be the “fall guy” for players not performing to a standard. All fingers should point to Satt. And if Rhule is the lone guy pointing at the players, he should instead point the thumb back at himself, because he’s next in the chain of command.

I think most if not all of our defensive staff is pretty damned good. The biggest issues I’ve seen there have been individual players blowing assignments. On offense it’s play design at times and play calling. Raiola is shell shocked and looks like a freshman now. That’s Satterfield’s fault.
We played really bad teams until we hit average teams in Illinois and Rutgers and a really good team in Indiana. I expressed concern about both sides of the ball early and often. I don’t think we’ve regressed. I think we are what we are. We actually played very well against a very good OSU team and ran into a WAY under valued UCLA team. UCLA has a legit front 7 on D and their coordinators are very good. I guarantee Tom could have won 9-10 games with these assistants. The weak link is Satterfield and unfortunately I don’t think Rhule has ever called plays on offense. Play calling is a unique skill that Satterfield clearly lacks.

I think the RBs we have would do well in different situations. I’m beating a dead horse but the way they are utilized no one even gets warmed up before they are sent back to the sidelines. Heck last week when Emmitt Johnson had a 6-7 yard gain he went to the sideline. I’d go right back to him until they stuffed him.And at running back. And OL.

Something we used to do was have d tell the o this is how we're going to defend you and here's what I think your weakness is and how I plan to exploit it and vice-versa with the o telling the d.If everyone is tunnel visioned to the same tunnel you can never figure it out. I would notice in the judges scores that people in academia hated my designs because I did not bow down to their one drummer thoughts. Strictly designers were not much better but liked my creativity. The design build judges loved my work,they saw that I did not go with trends or the certain 25 plants academia loved. I was on the cutting edge of new plants and products.
If everyone on your staff think identical and don't look for new ideas or wrinkles you get locked into tunnel vision. Maybe there are too many yes men on staff and need thinned out.
