Way OT: Raising your kids: City vs Small town

Agree, although I have no issue with the please thing. I am a big believer in leading by example. If I expect my kids not to hit, I don't hit. If I expect my kids to use pleases and thank yous. I better be doing the same thing. Now if If I say, "get on your shoes please" and they don't do it in about 5 sec, there is consequences. I don't ask twice.
Yeah...maybe a please with some request, like, "Junior, hand me the remote, please." Have seen the combination of disobedient kid and very well-manner parent too many times to throw "pleases" around. Was never a drill sergeant, and my hug-to-spank ratio had to be at least 100:1...but they knew the 5 of Clubs would be played, if necessary.Winking

Both. I grew up in a town of under 10,000 people. It had a lot of advantages. I was able to play all of the sports at a mediocre level, get a good education and I made some good lifelong friends. I've lived in Omaha for about 20 years now. We're moving out to the country this year, halfway between Omaha and Blair to enjoy the peace and quiet, have some animals and slow down a bit. We plan to invest in Blair community, but it sure is nice to be 20 minutes from Omaha for jobs, friends, shopping, big city entertainment and nice restaurants.
