There is serious talent on the field. That day Steve Taylor playing as well as Troy Aikman. Huge Nebraska win against a very talented UCLA team.
Sure was. I was at the NU-OU game in Lincoln that year. Keith Jones scored early and we were up 7-0. But then that was it. I was so disappointed. I thought we were really going to beat OU that year.I remember that one well. That was one of the most disappointing end of seasons ever.
Yeah, but Taylor was streaky. He had some real clunker games toowatched that one a year ago or so. Taylor was ahead of his time.

The 86 team came so close to beating the Bosworth team that it made plenty of sense to think that.Sure was. I was at the NU-OU game in Lincoln that year. Keith Jones scored early and we were up 7-0. But then that was it. I was so disappointed. I thought we were really going to beat OU that year.
The OU offensive line wore down our defense.I watched that game a few months ago. Seems OU was more physical. Bigger. Besides, I don't think anyone was going to beat that Miami team full of future all pros.
Yeah, but Taylor was streaky. He had some real clunker games too
I was at that game too. How did we get two home games in a row against OU???The 86 team came so close to beating the Bosworth team that it made plenty of sense to think that.
Yep. First drive. Almost too easy, then nothing for the rest of the game.
He had happy feet and melted under pressure. Kind of reminds me of Kordell StewartI watched some other game he played and he was, as you said, awful.
I remember after the game when they asked Barry about Charles Thompson, you know, the FRESHMAN who came into Lincoln subbing for OU's starter? Barry said he played great, and then went on to say that there was no Sooner Magic that day, that they beat Nebraska for four quarters.Sure was. I was at the NU-OU game in Lincoln that year. Especially Broderick. He talked shit about how this was "our house" and only we had the keys. They were even selling big plastic stupid ass keys outside the stadium for people to wave aroundI remember after the game when they asked Barry about Charles Thompson, you know, the FRESHMAN who came into Lincoln subbing for OU's starter? Maybe the worst thing that led up to that 1987 loss was the fact that Steve Taylor, Broderick Thomas and a few others opened up that can of whoop ass from the Sooners by trash talking days before the game, saying that OU didn't belong on the same field as Nebraska. I think that got their (OU's) attention somewhat.

I remember seeing all that around the stadium, I thought it was some of the lamest crap I'd ever seen. Midway through the second quarter I began to realize that OU was once again going to beat Nebraska, and not by some last minute miracle, but a thorough beat down. And that's exactly what happened.Especially Broderick. He talked shit about how this was "our house" and only we had the keys. Our D line was pushed around some too but they did have I think 2 NFL all pro O linemen on that team IF I remember correctly. The one guy played in the league for over a dozen years. Randall McDaniel. The guy ran a 10.6 100 meters in high school according to Wikipedia. 4.6 40 at the combine as a 285 lb OG.in tempe, our OL was manhandled. Derrick Rogers murdered us.
That NU team was loaded. They had FSU beat.87 team had no business losing that OU game or the Fiesta Bowl against FSU.
Yes they should have won. If memory serves, we had a chance to take the lead late when Morgan Gregory caught a pass and turned it into big yards inside the FSU red zone. Sadly, the play was called back on a penaltyThat NU team was loaded. They had FSU beat.

No. Actually it was Gregory himself who did not line up on the line properly, leading to one of those ridiculous illegal formation "not enough men on the line" penalties.Wasn't that some goofy illegal man down field penalty? That comes to mind about that play.
That is the definition of lame, damn refs! No. Actually it was Gregory himself who did not line up on the line properly, leading to one of those ridiculous illegal formation "not enough men on the line" penalties.
I was at that game, too. I remember being worried and a little alarmed when I saw how big OU's linemen were. It was the only time ever that an opponent looked bigger than NU.The OU offensive line wore down our defense.
Tyrese Knox fumble at the goal line that would have put that game away.Yes they should have won. If memory serves, we had a chance to take the lead late when Morgan Gregory caught a pass and turned it into big yards inside the FSU red zone. Sadly, the play was called back on a penalty
That's the play that lost the game.Tyrese Knox fumble at the goal line that would have put that game away.
