So, why do you support the coaching staff. What improvements have you seen over these past 8 games? What have you seen to show you that we will be competing for the B1G championship next year?

Because they deserve support in a transition year. Riley is here for four years minimum. I'm giving him time to establish his own program. If it doesn't work I'm happy to move forward. End conversation.

O

On defense I think what makes them look like they are not trying is bankers incompetent scheme. They play way to far off receivers and are way too soft. It's like stay close to the receiver and hope the qb misses the throw. Get in the receivers face and contest every throw. I refuse to believe we have the worst defensive backs in the country. What we do have is the worst defensive coordinator in the country.

Defense was plenty good today.

why do the coaches pull Westy after he makes a big play? it has happened multiple times this year, even with 30 seconds left on the clock, in crunch time, they rotate him out when we are trying to win a game.. seems pretty stupid to me. There are plenty of examples like this where the coaching staff isn't exactly giving it their best effort.

I thought he was banged up? Didn't the announcers comment on that?

Eyes open. Explain.
3-5 in one of the weakest divisions in CFB, one of the highest ranked teams in penalties, worst pass defense of all CFB teams, can't get results out of players from recruiting classes ranked higher over the past several years that most teams we played, obviously cannot inspire players - even when the best college team to play the game is in attendance, Riley is in very familiar territory at this point of the season based on his storied past - he probably wonders what all the fuss is about. Need more? There is plenty...

let me repeat myself, it has happened multiple times this year, in multiple games..

your premise, is that the coaching staff is giving it their best effort.. I would counter, that simply isn't true. Or if it really is their best effort, then it speaks to their incompetence, which I still find hard to believe.

Haha. We haven't been a great team in fifteen years. For years we have lined up against the likes of Minnesota, Northwestern, and Iowa and have been even. Now fans like you think a new coach can come in a turn this thing around in year one with a depleted roster, injuries, and effort issues. K, brah. K.

What? I thought you asked about Westy? I thought the commentators said he was banged up. Maybe I'm wrong but I thought they said that.

What coaches are not giving their best?

you have to go back to the beginning of this thread, to see where I am coming from..

you asked for some explanation, so I added a simple example, of which there are many more

so the result is this.. either the coaches are not giving their best effort, or if they are, then they are incompetent. I doubt they are incompetent, so it must be poor effort then.

It has been will known for a few weeks there are a few players that have not bought in. Hopefully, a few players will turn their gear in and be reunited with their beloved Bo.

Yes - good ones do. I know we are the only team with injuries and that is completely unfair. God must hate Nebraska. Unfortunately all of Iowa and Northwestern's five star players are firing on all cylinders. It is just not fair we can attract that type of talent.

Haha. Even better response. You're clueless like many in our fan base.

Goodnight.

Have you seen Minnesota play this year? NW who was skunked past two weeks, skunked them. Do I need to actually post a bunch of stats about dropped passes, incomplete passes, qb throwing off back foot, rushing yards per carry, missed tackles, penalties, boneheaded special teams plays, horrible play calls, no offensive strategy, no defensive or offensive scheme against opponents strengths and weaknesses?

Do you want to see this team play against Ohio State, Michigan, Alabama, Clemson, Memphis, Houston, Temple?
Nice try... You asked for improvement and I gave it to you. 2 penalties the entire game. Dropped balls to a minimum. Well called game offensively except maybe one drive. Two ints... You want me to go on?

You asked for improvement. They clearly improved. Had they not, we would have lost to Minnesota as well.

Who is saying we are on par with the team's you mentioned? Either you accept that we did improve, even if only for a game, or continue to troll. Cuz there is no question from anybody that has seen this team play we played our most complete game last week.

I'll have to respectfully disagree. You've got personnel rotations that don't stop on a dime. And honestly, IMO, a rotation with the WRs is the least of our problems.
it was just 1 example, there are more.. clock management is another, play calling, burning red shirts, rb rotation and personnel groupings for certain plays, there are plenty of examples.

and i do disagree, your last drive of the game, i want my star receiver in there no matter what.. rotation excuses are just a symptom of a poor system then.

You realize that in a lot of systems, receivers shuttle the play calls in. And as wide receivers, they do have to run, hard, at times a long distance, at a sprint. It gets tiring. That's why receivers sub, a lot. So there is a fresh person running routes. That's called strategy.

Well we can disagree on many things then.

Not entirely true, our OOC play as a division was pretty good.

Umm...not much anymore. Most calls are sent in from the sideline. Don't disagree with anything else.

I do agree with that...except you said earlier 4 years minimum. That I do not agree with. If Riley were to have back to back losing seasons-that would be enough evidence that he is probably not the right guy for the job, in my opinion.

I don't see how any program can fire a guy after one year with his very first recruiting class on campus. It's bonkers. Nobody will ever take us seriously again. Riley might tank but our program has to give him the time.
