Walkon starting for Iowa again Friday

Resar is not even being mentioned as QB for Friday. As of Oct 29th he's been moved to WR.
No I just stated that he's their fourth QB and that's the dude I would be worried about if he got in the game, he hasn't played at all this year. So if it was just left down to those two his speed in his maneuverability would make up for his lack of experience if something happened to Stratton. Sure Cade and Brandon have been practicing this week but think they're QB number four would be likely to go in if something happened to Stratton. Those two others may be practicing but their injuries may prevent them from being in the game. I think that's more of a head game than anything because Kirk stated regardless Jackson still the starter for the game on Friday. We'll see
The're is one HUGE outlier that could put a monkey wrench to everything I said about this game which would be absolutey HORRENDUS officiating which we've lived in all year. I was shocked as hell last Saturday as we got all of the maginal calls go in our favor and another shock being it was Wisconsin, out of their 7 penalties they got called twice for holding which is an rarity we get those calls in our favor. How many times since we've been in the B1G have teams been called for holding against us? We may have favor in getting the calls go in our favor Friday because of what we proved to them by the way we beat Wisconsin and getting over tyhe bowl drought the way we did plus these officiating crews have had to eat crow after having to apologize twice. Not counting on it though!

Because of injuries and poor play among Iowa's QB's, it's doubtful a 4th teamer who hasn't played QB this year would present much of a problem. Given all their ups and downs, mostly downs, among their QB's, don't you think that kid would have at least had some mop up duty in a couple games Iowa had control of?
Although anything is possible, Kirk would likely exhaust the number 2 and 3 QB's before he turned it over to Resar. Putting an untested freshman QB in against an NU defense, although up and down this year, has shown in the first half against CU and for 60 minutes against OSU they could probably dismantle that kid pretty quick.
NU hasn't produced much pressure on the QB for a few weeks now, but you take an untested kid like that and I bet Tony could get pretty creative in some disguised blitzes. Even the older QB's that Iowa has, warts and all, have seen a lot of college defenses in their day, so they at least have a chance to avoid being decapitated.
We all know it will boil down to NU being able to get Iowa off the field on 3rd down, and how efficient NU is on offense without turning the ball over. If it gets into a shootout, NU will roll them.
If it's a tight game, then NU still has to prove they can beat a good team on the road. We all know Iowa's defense can be salty especially if you help them out by not taking care of the ball.

So he started a few games. The point was he was a QB before he got to Iowa and started. He wasn’t a linebacker.
I’m WAY more worried about their RB than their QB but as good as their running game has been a 6th grader is going to be able to hit a wide open receiver when they go play action.
As far as officiating, there's nothing we can do about that. I'm more focused on the favorable matchups we have and taking care of the football. In the real world, when you finally have an offensive line that maintains good pad level, continues to drive their feet, and are getting some blocking help with the TE's, it lessens the chance they get beat and then have to resort to holding.
I'm assuming Dana has told them "holding" is a no-no.
Because Buschini has really upped his game, and with our placekicker now functioning, there's much less of an Iowa advantage in the event of a tight game.
IF, and its a huge IF, NU plays really well and looks good in doing so, I see a "small" parallel to this team and the 1969 team that sudddenly became very good. They got down early to OU in Norman, and wound up hammering them, went to the Sun Bowl and pounded Georgia and that set them up the next year for a huge run.
That team returned both Tagge and Van Brownson at QB, Jeff Kinney at RB, JR at WB which is similar to Raiola, EJ, and Jacori. They became a team that didn't turn the ball over much. The offensive line was just becoming physical, that defense was smothering but had some real studs to build around.
It's a stretch, but there are similarities. All budding powers in college football seem to show this type of pattern as they emerge from one pack and join the big pack. It would be nice to leap past the Iowa, Wisc, Minn's of the conference and join OSU, PSU, ORE, and MICH on an annual basis.
It's gonna take one helluva team every year to get into that BIG title game.

Iowa fans on social media today still crying about Cooper DeJean getting injured against 2 years ago. 2 years later they are still bawling.
Poor officiating ultimately cost us that game against Ohio St.
Yea, well Purdy gave them the game on a silver platter last year..
As much as we dog on Iowa QB’s - Purdy and Sims were no better. My word that was a painful season.
Reliving calls from 5 weeks ago and worrying about the officiating in a game 2 days away is counter-productive. When you take a lot of your emotions out of your posts, you become readable.
The time for us to get emotional with the officiating is the first time NU gets a bad call, and we can all see it.
Laziness by the offense prior to DH has led to some of our own problems on offense. The sharper the routes they run, the more effort they put into blocking now gives the WR's a chance to not be called for holding, OPI, etc. The same applies across the board.
In the last 2 games, NU is being flagged for 2 1/2 less penalties and over 45 yards a game less in penalties. Depending on the down, distance and field location with a small reduction in wasted plays all contribute to more ball control, clock control and scoring points.
Let's just hope we can maintain that upward trend we saw against Wisconsin and build on it.
