however it turns out (and it's looking good), that is a lot of competition in one weekend!
Pretty disappointing win against an inferior opponent. I'm not sure we are worthy of our #1 ranking. Hell, I'm not sure we are top 10.
How's this for dominance? Nebraska has now beaten the teams ranked #2, #3 and #4 in this past week's rankings.
Yea that was quite the opposite of environment. I chuckled when I saw the NW gym. Man are we blessed to have the program we do. Gotta be embarrassing for most programs to come on after NU @ devaney. Even the USC vs Stanford crowd today was sketchy.

Yeah, that was very noticeable. Had to google it. Last season our attendance averaged over 8,000. Not surprisingly, that led the nation. I expect it led it by a lot.
Yeah, well I guess if the football team had beaten three top 5 teams, I might see how the comparison applies.

2. The comparison was between some people who are skeptical of the ranking of the football team with a hypothetical fan who is skeptical of the ranking of the VB team.
3. The comparison was not apt, because the VB team has beaten three top-5 teams, while the football team hasn't beaten any top 10 team yet. Maybe come back if the FB team wins the next two.
4. Since the comparison wasn't apt, is wasn't funny. And even if it had been apt, it wouldn't be too funny because it is so overworked on the board.

Thanks for taking the time to explain this for us. I didn't realize it wasn't funny. Next time I won't chuckle. Frankly, I'm not sure how you became the person to tell us what is funny and what isn't, but someone needs the job, and I would probably suck at it.
Swing and a miss. Kaz is well aware that the football team has not beaten a top five team. But the football team is 7-0, which is far better than 95% of college football teams. Yet, strangely, there are still some on this board who are saying the glass is empty and we suck. Thus, what he is saying is that those same people, who just can't seem to embrace success and who insist on emphasizing the negative, should apply their same negative pessimism to the volleyball team. He is not saying our football team has achieved the same success as our volleyball team. But he IS saying that for some of our fans nothing is ever good enough and they will criticize everything.

You told me "And it's funny" first. Frankly I'm not sure how you became the person to tell us what is funny. I guess you hired yourself.
I didn't miss anything that I was swinging at. I didn't say Kaz was not aware that the football team has not beaten a top five team. I said the comparison with this VB team doesn't work at this point, which is true. There is still some question about the FB team because we haven't played any top opponents yet, unlike the VB team.

Kaz was not comparing the football and volleyball teams as you keep insisting. He was making a point about fans who are consistently pessimistic no matter how successful a team is.
And then you proceeded to tell me how wrong I was... So I bow to you. Please keep me posted on what is funny and what isn't funny in the future. I like to laugh, but don't want to look foolish laughing at something that isn't funny.
He wasn't comparing FB and VB teams? Then why did he put the post in a VB thread? There may be fans who will be "pessimistic no matter how successful a team is," but fans who are still pessimistic about the FB team aren't unreasonable at this point, because the FB team hasn't played a top team yet. But the VB team has. So attacking the pessimistic football fans by saying "oh, they're just like someone who would say this VB team shouldn't be in the top 10, aren't they absurd?!" doesn't work.
