US Women’s Soccer Team Booted

Should have been more attentive to this, and I would care a little.

Still soccer, but what a shame our National Team behaved as they did and do.

There was no kneeling and hasnt been in years. Anthem wasnt the issue it was the lack of creativity from the top and a roster that was either on their way out or taking their first steps. The world has definitely caught up but the US will be the favorite in 27 again (on the womens side). Rapinoe hadnt missed a pk in 5 years. Picked a bad time to miss but dont forget about the 2 AFTER her that also missed. US played better than Sweden but when you leave the result to a skills competition this is the result you get. Im just glad I bet on the under and that I used my own account and not Aaron Blom's mothers account

Maybe she bet on her team to lose? Might explain why she wasn’t upset

I kinda assumed it was a sarcastic laugh like I've never missed one of these while on the national team and NOW I kick it to Sydney. Have to think a fresh start with the old guard stepping aside will be a breath of fresh air and a bit of a clean slate moving forward

I tried in 1994 when World Cup came to USA

OJ drama was more interesting. I tried, really did.
I played in first inter-school soccer club event in Lincoln in 1978. Lincoln High came to Southeast and we played on the practice field inside the cinder track. Lincoln High won.

I tried, US womens team really put on an unpalatable mix of personalities and politics.
Any pride I felt for them went away when they boldly disrespected our Country. Then some went full alphabet soup and told me to like it or else.

I chose, and choose, “else.”

EPL and most major Euro leagues start up next weekend. For the most part its really good background noise while I make breakfast before college football and NFL. In person its really fun. Mens I am talking about. Womens soccer gets my attention for the World Cup and Olympics but thats about it.

Keep that same energy for every men's team in every sport.
I get it you like soccer. I like football, I didn't like what Kaepernick did with his kneeling and race baiting. I can separate the two, you apparently cannot. At every turn you appear to defend Rapinoe and any of the other malcontents. More power to you, I just won't be one that supports Rapinoe or her message.

Why don’t they reconfigure the game without a goalie. They don’t allow goal tending in basketball. Might end up 90 to 80 but I don’t want to sit through a game that ends up 3 to 2 or god forbid a tie with another boring 30 minutes and maybe end up being decided by a penalty kick.

3-2 in soccer really isnt much different than 21-14 in football.

It's like any sport. A 3-2 game can be really exciting. I was at this one and it was one of the coolest in person experiences I've had

But for every exciting game there are snoozefests.

I like soccer more than a lot of these guys mwulf, but soccer can get really ****ing boring.
A few rules changes could really help force the action.
1. Over and back just like basketball. I loathe how much they will pass all the way back to the keeper after being 2/3+ down the field.
2. Penalties like hockey. Power plays would help teams with scoring opportunities and would make fouling outside the box mean something.

I think because I lived in Los Angeles for 17 years the sport grew on me. It's the only sport students would ever talk about. Had the Lakers - Rams - Doyers and it was only ever soccer talk. Mainly Messi and Ronaldo talk which was annoying.

As someone that is part of the military, you'd be surprised how many service members run for cover everytime colors comes on so they don't have to get stuck standing at attention outside. These are guys who are literally representing our country Every. Single. Day. Yet you're upset that someone took a knee during the anthem. My guess is you probably didn't like when John Carlos and Tommie Smith raised their fists either in 1968.

I don't watch soccer. Well, once during the WC at a bar and it was just a huge drunk fest, that was fun.

Offsides, clearly the way that "rule" is enforced is to help decide which team will win the game.

Your two changes are really good ideas.

You lost me on “ so they don’t have to get stuck standing at attention OUTSIDE”
