Urban Meyer talking about Haarberg

Not everyone is as brilliant as you and has your foresight. With that said, maybe arrogance would be the better word.
"troll" "arrogant"

the same people who bristle at my prose always find themselves resorting to name calling & personal attacks

another multi-page bitchfest about the QB who carried us to 5 wins last year?

HH is such an easy guy to root for, it's truly bewildering how many here have this odd personal vendetta against the guy for not being Joe Burrow.

i hope he can find a Taysom Hill type role, make an NFL practice squad, store a few MM's in the bank then have a tremendous life for sticking thru the Frost-Rhule transition and being one of the only bright spots of 2023.

I think the vast amount of posters (could be wrong) love the guy. Many didn’t appreciate his abilities as a QB. Kong loves shining a spotlight on said posters. The bitchfest never would have happened if Kong didn’t go out of his way to, once again, express his dismay that posters would ever have had issues with Haarberg. Had he just posted the video and that’s it, we would likely still be on page one in this thread.

I strongly believe Kong measures his message board worth to the number of pages he can generate by his comments.

In real life he’s probably a great guy.

Ok I just waded through 2 1/2 pages of this stuff. lol

I don't always agree with @king_kong_ but I will say he is anything but thin-skinned. LOL

I wouldn't call him a troll, more of a contrarian in some cases. He clearly has a healthy ego, and a pretty good memory because he remembers a lot of things that I don't take to long term memory. I think he likes to point out when he was correct, especially to people that argued with him about it in the past. To me, that is more ego than trolling.

if i recall, @king_kong_ was the first to be outspoken in support of starting HH over Sims.

then HH single-handedly breathed life back into an 0-2 team. posters got pissy when he pointed it out, and doubled down that HH isn't very good.

the problem is a lot of people evaluate teams like its Madden where individual players have numeric ratings. guys like HH have intangibles that create a force greater than the sum of its parts. most people who played an organized sport would know that, so its childish when people simply read off a HH stat-line and claim he was equal to Sims or Purdy.

I still wonder what could have been if frost had any balls and started HH in 2021 as a true frosh with AM backing him up, as I called for ahead of that fateful "we're close" season

we sure as hell would've won more games last year

this is wrong. and I didn't post the video.

my posts in this thread would've never taken place if certain posters hadn't misdirected their very visceral, emotional reactions to me personally at HH.

as many have noted in this thread (without any coercion), certain folks have gone out of their way for more than a year to shit on HH to spite me.

that is pathetic and deserves to be called out at every possible turn.

I'm glad right-thinking, objective people have seen it and called it out, too. those who are guilty will never fess up (cowards) and should be ashamed.

yes.

you'll never believe it, but people laughed and laughed and laughed at my suggestion AM was better suited to the backup role than starter and HH had the intangibles we needed in a leader based on 1 single spring game.

fast forward 1 year and he's winning a conf title as a backup at kst while we continued to wallow in nothingness. 1 more year and HH is leading our boys to the most wins we'd seen in years while clearly establishing himself as a leader in the locker room.

First I disagree that it would have improved anything, as by your own screechings he had no development help, and I have to wonder how many interceptions it would have taken for you to wish Haarberg reinforce his ceiling fan?

We pretty much all like HH as the epitome of Husker Football.

You, much like me, can be easy to dislike due to our personalities.

As I said earlier, your pyrrhic victory laps are most tiresome.

we went 3-9 in 2021 and had to start over in 2022. it literally couldn't have gotten worse.

you don't think having a QB with starting experience would've helped in 2022 or 2023?

I do.

Alright, I will give you that.

But my question still remains; how long would you have given him as a starter, making mistakes, before your stream of vitroil would have been directed at him?

if he was making worse mistakes as a 4th year starter than he did as a true frosh, it would have been noted.

or if he was being a selfish, me-first glory hog, it would have been noted.

I think they are grooming HH for a position change next year. DK will be the #2 QB next year with HH as an H-back or slot receiver. I love the kid; he has heart and grit, which are hard to find.
I hope you're right here, and I hope HH thinks this is the way. This year we're still thin enough he has to be QB2, but next year Rhule needs to play him where it makes most sense to give him a shot at the next level. He looks like an NFL body but it's not gonna be as a QB.

How many threads devolve 3 posts in, into a “Kong-a-thon”? It’s like 50%.

Dude thinks this message board is a chalkboard at MIT, and he’s Good Will Hunting deducing impossible equations,

I agree he enjoys it, he defends his position all the time. Again he has multiple people that try and prove him wrong, he replies to one and more add on the pile.
I would suggest his style invites that as he has attempted to pretend that he is always right.

He is like a relative, that you just tolerate.

As I wrote, he enjoys it. So clearly he invites it by responding to nearly every person who interacts with him. I also stated, at times, he is very contrarian with he posts. He comments just to see if you want to defend your position.

Haarberg has had access to elite QB coaching since the winter and I do not doubt that he is operationally a better QB than he was last season. This is a good thing, as having a capable backup QB is way better not having one. Former QBs have been valuable in the NFL. They are smart, have a better grasp of the overall playbook and many are good all-around athletes. Heinrich will have to decide whether he still wants to play the position next year, or move onto a more full time role as a utility skill player. I hope he stays on the roster and the staff works to define a better role for him in the offense. Kaelin will be good to play all of the games next year and I would think the staff will want him to get any late game reps that come along. But HH can always serve in a reserve slot as a QB.

Just curious…. “The Kong” mentioned that Purdy was a locker room cancer. Is that true? If so why?

I don’t have his sources

he intentionally ignored the coaches' play call against MD on the goal line and called his own number, was stuffed, then promptly threw a game losing pick. Rhule literally said this happened in his post-game presser.

he ran out of the stadium after blowing the iowa game, eschewing his media responsibilities, and the next time he was heard from he was announcing his intention to transfer.

before he played last year out of necessity because HH had a high ankle sprain and couldn't walk, there were rumors that he and his dad wanted to shut it down due to some injury (they were unhappy with him running the scout team).

look at his teammates's body language around him. look at his teammates's quotes about him (there are very few).

he is a loser. he oozes loserdom. he is a me-first culture vampire. 0 for his career as a starter at 2 different schools. both got immediately better as soon as he transferred.

Rhule couldn't send his ass packing fast enough.

Rhule said they had a lengthy conversation with him about this when they told him DR was the starter. He talked about Frost being a safety in the NFL and a couple of other examples. HH said, wherever you need me and what is best for the team. I also think the kid from NAIA will redshirt this year and be third-string next year and a coach, like the kid Baylor when Rhule was there. (I think it is the WR coach we have here.)

We really can't delve into that here, but I know exactly what you mean. The thing that pisses me off the most is we have good, hard-working American citizens, many of them working their asses off in 2 jobs just to keep the lights on and keep their family fed.

Yet, we just shovel it over hand over fist to people who've never paid a penny in taxes and contribute nothing to society.

It's a shame young families making 6 figures can't even get into a starter home and enjoy the benefits that you and I, and many others, have enjoyed for decades.

Just this week, one of the candidates was shot at multiple times while playing golf in an exchange of gunfire with the SS. Yet, it's not even a news story? Where the **** we at as a country?
When did we go from the guy never fired a shot to he shot multiple times

Its why I put him on ignore, I filter what I read from him. If he's being reasonable I'll read his posts otherwise when he starts on one of his crusades I quit opening them.

I guess I’ve always felt that if you’re posting something with the intended result of getting a rise out of other posters and getting a response, to me, that’s trolling. He absolutely wants others to take the bait. Maybe I’ve got the wrong definition.

Manufactured arguments

there's nothing to argue.

it's been settled.

all the purds have been flushed.

HH is playing his part in ushering us back to prominence, much to the chagrin of the many, many haters and losers.

it's well documented that people here who post moronic opinions should be made to wallow in them.

@RedMyMind has been "fathered in" and can continue shitting on HH if he wishes due to his personal past. everybody else can suck it.
Tried not to read too much of this thread.. just wanted to say I predict that HH will run, throw and receive a TD this Friday night against the Orange Stooges!
