Urban Meyer is cold blooded

The full quote isn't quite as sensational, but they have a history and nothing Urb does or says is ever unintentional.

“(When) Bill Belichick comes in (to talk about possible draft picks) he’ll ask me two very critical questions: What kind of teammate is he and how does he perform in the big game?” Meyer said. “He wants to know what kind of teammate you are, I’m the same way ... And how do you play in the big game?

”I want to see it in your rivalry game. I want to see it on fourth down, when the team needs you. Not when you’re running around in shorts and T-shirts doing vertical jumps. ... The big game, man. The big one. The one that matters. Not the one where you’re up four scores in the third quarter. I want to know (how it is) against your rival, in the big game, on fourth down when they need you the most. Can you give me your very best? If you do? Get ready for a big career.”

People sure get their panties in a wad over the slightest thing. They were at the same camp, he stated what an NFL coach would ask him about a player. What is the big deal?

I agree. It would’ve been great if Harbaugh would’ve talked and said something about as a previous NFL coach... not that he was super successful but that I think would’ve made for a better story line.

By any measure except longevity, Harbaugh was extremely successful as an NFL coach. He went 44-19-1 (.690) in the regular season and 5-3 (.625) in the playoffs, made it to three consecutive NFC Championship games and nearly won the Super Bowl in 2012. The Niners hadn't even made it to the playoffs once in the previous nine years before his arrival.

By his own admission, he wore out his welcome with ownership and the players and they failed to make the playoffs his final season with an 8-8 record. But he did an unbelievable job of turning them around while things were still good.

I'm a Niners fan and it still pisses me off that they couldn't find a way to make things work longer than four years, but it was basically the pro equivalent of the turnarounds he achieved at San Diego St. and Stanford. He's not everyone's cup of tea, but JH can flat-out coach.

I totally hear what you're saying, but based on the media environment we live in today, are you the least bit surprised that this was deemed "newsworthy?"

This is the same guy that tucked tail and ran from Saban.....
