playing each other last night.

Neither one will win a lot of games this year, but we will keep on watching and complaining.

Watch some other teams and notice the difference in speed, athleticism, talent . . .

Way too early to make that statement. Lol Jury is out on them as a team overall but Oregon has a few big time players and really good team speed!

I think the overall team speed at Nebraska is going to drastically improve in the next season or two.

Ummm, Oregon is pretty damn fast there bubby..
Part of the issue IMO for our DBs that first half was that they underestimated the speed of Oregon's WRs. Those dudes could motor. I don't think there's any doubt that there speed at DB caused our WRs and Lee some problems as well. We had a tough time getting open.

Everyone likes to point at last year for Oregon as a lack of talent, but I don't really agree, it was much more of poor coaching the last couple years and losing his team. They are the 2nd highest average recruiting class over a 4 year span on our schedule(averaging #20) and only trailing Ohio St(#2 on rankings averaging a #3.7 class) and one spot ahead of PSU (#21). Nebraska averaged #27, respectively.

I think it has already improved, especially at the WR position. There's no doubt Speilman, Lindsey, and DPE have speed to match Oregon. And I have a feeling once KJJ, McQuitty, and Moore are here, we're going to have an even bigger jump in team speed. I also think we're pretty quick in the secondary, but still a step or two behind Oregon. Our Oline and Dline seem to be upgraded with quickness and athletism from last year to this year as well. The biggest problem we have speed wise, IMO, is at linebacker. Watching the PSU linebackers yesterday, we just don't have that kind of speed and athletisim at that position. And it's going to take time to recruit to it. But if we can continue to gain ground in the areas where we have already made strides, and augment our linebackers with guys who have speed, ultimately we'll be fine.

If you think neither Oregon nor Nebraska have any team speed you are the pure definition of delusional.

Oregon has team speed all over the place, and Nebraska has it in a fair number of places. At WR and DB. But it's young and still learning. I would suspect we have some of the best team speed in the West Division, and you will see it develop as the year goes on.

Pretty much the point I was making, isn't it?

You have 6 posts. Forgive me if I just lump you in with all the other dip $***s who crawl out from under their rocks when things go bad and it suits your agenda to stir the pot.

But for now I'll humor you. No that's not what you said. You said watch some other "teams." Implying that we have no talent and no speed at any position. I would say our speed on offense, especially at WR, we can match anyone step for step. Our OL still needs work, but if you can't see the upgrade from last year to this year, then I'll refer you back to my first paragraph. Our DL needs work, but again better compared to last year it's an upgrade. Secondary has talent and speed. Linebacker seems our only deficiency, and in Diaco's scheme that's a huge problem. You get a few fast linebackers on the roster and some of these things take care of themselves. And call me crazy, but we have a pretty significant amount of youth starting for us. Bryant is a Sophomore. Speilman is a RS Freshman. Lindsey is a true freshman. The Davis brothers are sophomores. Jackson and Bootle are RS Freshman. Eric Lee is. Sophomore. Tanner Lee is a junior but just played in his first two games in two seasons. Honestly, can you not look at this 2 deep, see the talent, add in a solid recruiting class, mix in some experience for the young guys and not see what could be on the horizon??? I get it. We haven't seen a conference championship in 18 years, so a lot of people are on edge. But the talent is coming on board. Think about it. Guys like Lindsey, Guy Thomas, Josh Moore, Bookie, Parsons, Roberts... they're getting offers from Ohio State, Alabama, Auburn, USC, FSU, Clemson, etc... and they are choosing Nebraska. Why? I'm guessing it's because they look at Riley, Diaco, Langsdorf, Williams, Williams, perrella, and Bray and see a vision that they can believe in. Honestly, did Bo ever... EVER get a recruit that had offers from the likes of Alabama, Clemson, FSU, Ohio State, etc??? The bottom line is, the most talented guys we have were recruited by Mike Riley and Co. we're talented, but young. By the end of this season the young guys will come of age and could be a much different team than you saw in the first half of Saturday. In you can't envision what could be, then again I refer you back to my first paragraph.

And - I know it's not a lot of "data points", but . . . against two - yes, I'll say it again - mediocre teams, our defense ranks 129, 123, 119, and 70 in various categories.

I'm as big a Husker fan as anyone on this board. I was a fan before most of you were born. I'm still a fan, I've been a fan thru highs and lows, ups and downs. Some posters like to put down people like me who don't spend our entire life typing condescending posts. I referred to mediocrity and really got put in my place. Now, we've played another less than stellar team (is that better, z28?). I don't know if its coaching, talent or whatever, but I haven't changed my mind. I don't ever want nebraska to lose, for god's sake, but reality should be sinking in to your thick head.
