Trev it is...

It's a good hire. Former player. From the area. Has good experience with fundraising. Cares deeply about winning. Understands the importance of patience. Head AD experience. Obviously knows the culture and Scott Frost.

Sure there were some controversial stuff he had to do for the touch choices early at his time at that Omaha school, but no choices like that will need to be made at Nebraska. The coaches are in place, more fund raising needed though for facilities, and just help things grow for the coaches that Moos hired.

And you can expect a presence coming back for Nebraska in Omaha. He obviously knows Omaha and will help fix the issues there.

Fans and alumni of UNO may not like him for cutting programs but for someone not affiliated with UNO, it sounded like responsible, tough financial decision making. It’s about time.

Dating back to the late 60’s when the Omaha-dominated Unicameral decided to bail out the then failing municipal university, Trev might be the first person in power to stop throwing money at that institution’s black holes.

(I just opened my umbrella to guard against the likely sh1tstorm.)

Pretty simplistic view. He may need to make one of the toughest decisions an AD has had to make at Nebraska at the end of this football season or the season after that.

This seems like a great point. First step to returning to glory is locking up your backyard, which we seem to have a hard time doing at the moment.

Some of you need to relax… I don’t give a shit if we hired Ronald McDonald, just fix the football program for the love of Christ
So you hire an AD who got rid of the football program at his last job? He hasn't managed a football program in how many years now? So how exactly will this guy fix the football program, from his experience in college football 30 years ago?

I think because our football program sucks, people are doing a lot of extra handwringing over the AD hire. I'm pretty skeptical that the AD has a whole hell of a lot to do with whether we're successful on the field. If Frost puts up 11 wins next year Trev Alberts will suddenly be a GREAT hire, and likely had jack to do with it. If he can kiss butt and raise a lot of money that's all I care about. It's weird that the best AD are at schools from good recruiting areas with great coaches. Put me at Alabama with Saban and I'd probably end up in the AD hall of fame.

I wish I could give 10 "likes"to this post.

Why do people want random outside hires that know nothing about Nebraska? This is a small state with a unique football program. I like the hire of Trev

Becasue people don't think properly. Hire some random person that hasn't watched a Nebraska sporting event likely in their life but has AD experience or hire someone that actually knows the place, had played there and on top of it has the experience.

It was a hire that should have been made when Moos was hired.

Man, Nebraska fans are getting ridiculous. We need new blood and getting our Nebraska guys will begin to show we make good choices. You simply can’t turn programs around overnight and we were down below ground level when frost was hired. Let him work people. He won’t let us down but give him time to change to his guys that will buy into his way of doing things. Same with Trev Alberts he will do great things.

I think this is the biggest thing Trev is here for and that is kissing ass you step up the funding for the new facility. Outside of some other instances, this is the biggest thing Moos stepped on his dick about. I heard from a number of large boosters that Moos was so lazy and that they were ready to write big checks, but never once heard from Moos and that he wrote letters expecting them to be all "N". Guy served his purpose at the time, but all of the red flags finally caught up with him.

Not sure we needed a national search firm for a guy right down the Interstate.
I am pretty sure a UNL search for a very high level administrator like AD has required steps, but the abrupt dismissal of Moos led me to believe they had their new guy all but officially hired. It just took a few weeks to jump through the hoops.

How did that work out with Steve Pederson?

It's not the splash hire everyone wanted but can you honestly say he didn't put UNO in a better place. Scratching football to put resources into hockey and basketball was the right move for UNO.
It's more of a drip hire. But he's qualified for the job and has brought Omaha athletics back from the dead. They actually have on campus facilities now and he completely rebranded the athletic department. Remember those god awful Red "UNO" jerseys. They went and played MSU their first season in D1 and the secretary for MSU literally asked "whats UNO?" Now all the jerseys and logos are "Omaha" much better and much more legit. Trev gets that kind of stuff and he'll be good in that regard. He hired Dean Blais who was a great hire but other than that he doesnt have a ton of experience hiring and firing coaches.
