I think a good part of it is wanting to continue working for Rhule. He could probably still get more money at USC as DC but working for a head coach that is prioritizing offense over defense is probably less appealing to him.

They're paid by a self-funded athletic department which gets its money from ticket sales and the B1G Conference cash cow of a media payout. No taxpayer dollars or tuition involved. Those B1G ought to be thankful we receive the B1G money. Imagine how grateful Oregon State and Washington State would be to have that money.
