Play somebody bigger even if they’re not as assignment sound. It was just too easy. They constantly got a 6’5” receiver matched up with him. That matchup alone was a major factor in the loss. Multiple first downs and a TD.They show us right off the bat by going right after Hartzog. When we play him, there's not much we can do about it.
He tried on one crucial third down. Receiver shrugged him off like a high schooler and his 2nd grader little brother.Teach hartzog to hold the shit out of receivers. Worked for usc.
Then why does Matt continue to match him up with them? If MH is the best we have, then we are in serious trouble. And we are.To be fair, USC has outstanding skill guys on offense and their QB’s run threat hurt us immensely. Hartzog had no chance against their 6-5 receivers.
I don't like bashing players but that LB Thompson had a play where the back went through the line in front of him. Not only did he not fill the gap, but he let the guy run past him. Then he trips on his own two feet while he was jogging after him. Not long after that, he actually made a tackle-- albeit 5 yards out of bounds on the UCLA sideline. It’s not all the players. We have a couple of weak players. We’re playing one guy who looks like a 7th grader. Team after team finds our weakest guys and exploits them.
Matt doesn't match any DBs up with anybody else. It's the other team's OC who tries to get the right match ups. Then why does Matt continue to match him up with them?
I know that we don't have much depth in the DL when it comes to run stuffers, but for these last two games I would like to see us play an extra big guy in the middle. Two many LBs are not filling their gaps against the run. Just as well put a bigger body in that gap instead. They’re double teaming the hell out of him. It’s obvious as well that he’s playing through a knee injury.
And you are likely his finest student so hurry on back to class then. No, but he teaches children so you should pay attention.
This is so true. It’s honestly the same as so many other college defenses, but some hate the “name”.
His size has always been a problem.I’m saying that his size alone is almost a disqualifier. He had no chance against the size USC threw at him. He also let a WR get behind him in the endzone today.
When he was hurt, we were even worse. There is no in-season fix available. It’s been an issue all year. Illinois showed teams how to beat the zone. We can’t play man.His size has always been a problem.
Holla

Same as last year. A hallmark of White’s defenses since he’s been here. The trend seems to be that when the defense needs to have a stop they can’t get one. The Ohio State game, UCLA, there are plenty of examples. The score was indicative of the game yesterday. USC is as poorly coached as Nebraska is.
It looks like they don’t play assignment football and are hunting the big play, then give up the big play.Same as last year. A hallmark of White’s defenses since he’s been here.
It's a big shit sandwich and we all took a bite.GET THE F*** OUT OF DODGE!!!
Jimari Butler had some great plays...Zero pressure on the QB
I saw a lot of missed tackles out there. That counter play has people out of position a lot.
