Tony White and Terrance Knighton reportedly leaving for FSU

So the ESPN stats are in....In the Power 4 Conferences Defensive stats say.....Nebraska is the 13th team in yards given up ....As far as scoring defense they are 15th.....

Power 4 teams who gave up more yards than Nebraska...

Georgia...Alabama...Oklahoma...Miami...Auburn...LSU...Clemson...Auburn...USC....Florida...Florida State

Power 4 teams who gave up more points than Nebraska...

Georgia...Michigan....A&M...Auburn...Oklahoma...Clemson...USC...Miami...LSU...Florida...Florida State

They crazy thing is the disparity between our recruiting classes than the teams on these lists.....Those teams have recruited better than us since Hell 20 years maybe....5* and 4* Stars all up and down their rosters....Ty probably the only 4 Star guy we had after Tommi got hurt....bunch of 3 stars and less....and Overall, it could have been even better, we had a lot of guys lost out there, true freshmen and what not...
On the defensive depth chart, the following players were 4 or 5 star recruits: Ty, Jeudy, Keona Davis, Cam Leonhardt, PWill, Shavers, MJ Sherman, and Ceyair Wright, or 28% of the depth chart. To compare, there were 6 of 28 on the Iowa game depth chart in 2021.

I don't understand how offensive coordinators and players going against NU manage to scheme in a way that they can't do any other games a season? Our offense sucked this year and many other years over the last decade, but we've also laid some unexplainable eggs on the D side of the ball at really inopportune times against what no one would consider offensive juggernauts.

Losing someone for a lateral move sucks….unless his next gig wildly overpays and we don’t match. Then that’s a different kind of suck. Honestly, I worry about attrition as much as the coordinator loss. Continuity on that side of the ball is important.

Well that makes it even harder to look forward to next year to lose you best coaches from the best unit. Hopefully we don’t see a lot of the younger players on D leave as well. We just can’t have nice things.

It is the world we live in now. Tony can recruit within 100 miles and find all the talent he will ever need on defense.

Shavers, McGahee

where are they from?

Florida has no state income tax.

The top end of Nebraska state income tax is 6%, which on a $2M salary is $120k. Add on top of that a raise FSU will give to Tony White and this is a substantial raise potentially. Everyone likes more money.

Will be much easier to recruit at FSU as local talent is much better than Nebraska.

It will be easier to win in the ACC than the Big Ten going forward.

If I’m Tony White, I’m not thrilled about Phil Snow looking over my shoulder mid season.

Honestly, I can’t blame Tony White at all for this move.

Haven’t seen anyone throw this name out there, but any chance Jim Leonhard takes a phone call? DB coach with the Broncos this season. Not sure what his thoughts are about getting back in to college or if he’s waiting to see if Fickell flames out at UW and tries to join back up with the next staff there.

Yeah really sucks he's taking our DL coach. One of our best assistants.

I liked Knighton, but similar to White I am a bit indifferent. I feel like some of his guys have really regressed. Head scratcher for Pot Roast.

Ty & Nash - Strong middle. Credit Knighton
Cam, Princewill, Butler and others - Regression. Have some decent games, but Lenhardt is on a milk carton as well as princewill. Kai Wallin was pretty good last year, and not much there this year.

I guess we will see.

The fraud couldn’t hold onto his best coaches. They’d rather make lateral moves to a team with a coach on the hot seat.
Norvell hired new OC and DC and will take any player that Tony recommends they go after.
With his job on the line, Norvell will leave no stone unturned.

It seems unanimous, other than DH, the 2 best coaches are leaving for FSU.

If Rhule can’t hold onto Dana then kiss next season goodbye. The defense would of taken a step back anyway even with TW. Offense needs to carry the load next year
