Defensive line coach Tony Tuioti was live on Sports Nightly radio Thursday evening. Below is a recap of what coach Tuioti had to say!

FIRST SEGMENT
  • It's always good to correct things after a win. The guys are focused and everyone is excited for this next game.
  • The offense of Minnesota runs through their running back Mohamed Ibrahim. He has touched the ball about 155 times and the next most person has 11 touches. We have to be able to stop the run.
  • Minnesota will line up big people and try and run downhill. We have to be disciplined and we have been successful the last couple of weeks doing that. What we have done the last two weeks has been great but it's a whole new game.
  • We spent all week getting these guys to understand what kind of game this is going to be. Minnesota outplayed us last year and were more physical. The young guys did a great job of watching tape and learning from mistakes last year.
  • Ben Stille has been a tremendous asset. He gets guys to do the right thing and the guys trust him. He has been great to have and hopefully we get him for another year.
  • Damion Daniels has done a tremendous job getting in better shape. He played his most reps in the Iowa game, about 44 snaps. He wants to play as much as he can. Last year he was base defense, but now he is pretty much playing in all of our packages.
CALL IN QUESTIONS
  • Hopefully we can build a pipeline of kids from Hawaii. We want to make sure we bring in the right kids to the program. We have traction with kids with Polynesian ties, but it has to be the right fit for both sides. This is a family atmosphere at Nebraska and that aligns with a lot of Polynesian athletes. Once you land one, the pipeline is established.
  • He could tell Casey Rogers was coming into his own in spring ball and training camp. He was understanding the scheme of the defense and showed up a lot during training camp. Just talking with him, he is starting to understand what offenses are trying to do to him. He is a good kid and takes great notes and is athletic and great in the weight room. He learned from the Davis' brothers and that helped him.
  • Talking about Ty Robinson, he takes a lot of pride in wanting to be the best he can be, doing things the right way and always wants to be perfect. He wants to play so well and does everything right. He is hard working in the weight room and has a bright future ahead.
  • Jordon Riley had a really good training camp, but injured his knee and that sent him back a bit. He is starting to look like the guy from training camp, a guy that he thought could have a good season for Nebraska.
  • Keem Green is slowly developing and getting there. There is flashes, but it's about being more consistent for him.
  • The guys don't need too much motivation, they know what they need to do. They just need to focus on winning the next game. Staying focused in the moment and preparing for the next game. We were embarrassed with how we performed last year against Minnesota. We have our work cut out for us.
That was all!
