Tommie Frazier

Mr. Frazier is gonna get crucified for not toeing the company line. I felt bad for him until the Creighton thing.

Isn't there any way to get him back in the fold? With as much as he did for the program there has to be an AD job Moos can give him. What is Shevin Wiggins doing these days?

Last night, it looked like he was auditioning for the role of Jaysker Club President.

Take the trade-off, Tommie. You got to be the best NU QB of all time, let Scott be a better coach than you.

Scott Frost served his sentence for not being Tommie Frazier already. Now you serve yours for not being a good enough coach to keep the Doane job in a state where you'd have won an election against Jesus.

Making a lot of noise worked well for T-Fraz and 55 back when they could back it up on the field. Now they're walking examples of the difference between being a coach and being just another loudmouthed former player.

Tommie has a big ego. Most consider him to be one of the greatest college qbs of all time. At the very least the greatest in Nebraska history. But whose highlights have been lighting up screens this entire year? Scott Frost's. If Scott is successful here he will be remembered as the Savior of Husker football, the greatest Husker of all time. Tommie doesnt have a heisman to cling to like Rodgers or Crouch. Scott is a threat to his legacy simple as that.
I feel that Tommie is a threat to Tommie's legacy at this point.

Tommie is that old HS football star that never left home and lives above the bar now :p Favorite movie: Best of Times. Favorite song: Glory Days.

I kid, but while we might have disliked Tommie the person, most of loved Tommie the player and how he competed.

He at least needs to move to Chicago for a few years to make things look like he's not living off his playing days

I think that there was enough nepotism during the pelini administration bromigo. No thanks

Maybe Tommie Frazier was being realistic on how he views things?

We all know it's going to be a heckuva trek to get the team and football culture back to where it needs to be. Not going to be all sunshine and roses. Personality differences aside between the two of them, (if any), I think Tommie has the right to voice his hesitations or concerns....as do any of us.

I've run into Tommy several times the last year at events. He is an opinionated person but......not a bad guy. I did hear clips of the broadcast and he wasn't really down regarding Scott Frost. It was more reserved. I don't think its all that unfair as I was the same way with MR. I happen to have the rose colored glasses this time that I didn't with MR but I also think the body of works that MR offered was reason to question the hire.

Also in relationship to Creighton gear. Tommy lives in Omaha. 99% of the Creighton basketball fans.....and there are a lot of them.....are Husker fans. Creighton puts out a great product that many Omaha people love. Being a Nebraska football player shouldn't mean you can't be a Creighton Basketball Supporter.
I'm not going to sit here and say who you have to root for, but if you do in fact cheer for Creighton to win against Nebraska in anything you are not a fan of Nebraska at all. You are what I like to call a bandwagon jumper, and you only cheer for the teams that are good. If you cheer for Creighton to win outside of the Nebraska game, then that is fine.

Here is what is not fine...

Most people just poke fun at the Nebrasketball team and cheer for Creighton. That is like cheering for your rich friends family to be more successful than your own, because they have all the cool stuff at the moment. Yeah, I am pretty much calling you Jayskers wannabe entitled b****es.

Being a Nebraska Basketball fan is the epitome of being a fan, because we cheer for them no matter what the outcome. We have had a poor product to cheer for yet we still do, because I am a fan of Nebraska... Not just Nebraska football.

I think Tommie has a right to voice his opinion as well. He's earned it.

I also believe he should ENCOURAGE. He has an opportunity to use his powerful voice for the benefit of the Cornhuskers.

I don't know if he has beef with Frost, but honestly Frost is going to do his very best for Nebraska, and that alone should be motivation enough to bury what can't be either undone or unsaid..if that's the case, and give his teammate a vigorous and hearty helping hand.

Don't they both strongly want bragging rights on Saturdays?

Ummm. We need more former players in the AD, not less. They deserve it and are qualified greatly because of what they sacrificed for our enjoyment.

Not every soldier makes a great politician. Key word "qualified". I'm ok with qualified former players, but playing for Nebraska doesn't automatically make your qualified to hold a position in the athletic department. It shouldnt be a gravy train.

Can we please stop with this stupid, tired, meaningless "he has a right to say..." defense. Every time somebody gets crtiticized for something they said, people retreat into the "they have a right to say...." argument. Saying somebody doesn't have a right to do something literally means they can be punished for it. Nobody, not one person has said that he doesn't have a right to say what he wants. Just because you have a right to say something doesn't mean it's correct or fair. People need to stop retreating into this meaningless "he has a right to say..." argument, because that is not the issue here, and it never is. Start talking about the content of what somebody says, not defending somebody's right to say something when nobody has questioned that.

It doesn't????!!!!!

Love Tommy as a player, but ask Doane college about his coaching
Tommie never got a chance to finish what he was starting to build at Doane. Those kids viewed football as a fun activity, Tommie was showing them the hard edge side of college football. Tommie cut the dead weight and was building at Doane when a short sighted AD let him go.

He's not anti- Frost. Just waiting to see how things go before he jumps onboard with the hire.

Truehuskerfan has a right to say what he wants on a message board.

However he should ENCOURAGE others to not engage in idioms and figures of speech he doesn't particularly like with a focus on unity and probably taking less offense at any correspondence not addressing himself.

Doesn't that sound a little less divisive?

There's a difference between having the right to say whatever you want, and being above criticism for the things you say. So... TF can say whatever he wants. Agreed. He's not above having his opinions questioned.

Typical of him. I once saw him reject a little girl ( maybe 7 yrs old) who asked him for an autograph.

Frazier was a great qb. Best we ever had. But not a kind person.
Yep, always heard he wasn't big on signing. We were in Tempe for the Fiesta Bowl and my 10 year old brother found him and asked him to sign a football and he declined. My brother name dropped a cheerleader friend of his we met earlier and he ended up signing it. Guess he got lucky.

Some find it hard to accept when their peer gets a dream job and is making fat stacks and they are well...Not
I think TOmmie has been eating "fat stacks" of potato chips.

Heard an interview with him discussing fans and autographs. He came off very bad. Very arrogant.

I thought that Crouch was better. Didn't have the pipeline or stable of running backs that Frazier did.

Tommie was not really well liked by his fellow players back in the day, despite his greatness and how much he elevated the team. And he was a failed coach after his glory years on the field. Now he just lingers on the fringes of Husker football.

He is the Uncle Rico of Husker football
I'm super sad you didn't add a gif!

was he though? He was the QB of the best team in Neb history, but when he went down, Brook came in and we hardly missed a beat, and then when he went down, Turman came in and did very well as well.

Yeah he was. He changed the QB position.

We don't win National championships without him.

Winning in our conference and beating the Florida schools is 2 different things. Straight line speed wasn't enough.

Tommy does live in Omaha like myself when I occasionally go to CU games I have worn blue too sometimes I'll wear Nebraska gear at their games as well too...

Unless he is there Saturday with his Blue Creighton gear on I doubt he really has a dislike for Nebraska...

Just my 2 cents
fckin jayskers

jk idc.

Agree Solana. Until you can check your ego to teach, lead and coach people to be better than you, you can't teach, lead or coach. Tommie still believes he is the best ever but can't let the ego go. Scott is wired to raise others to be the best they can. This is huge and basically why HOF players are not good coaches, and why many top sales reps can't mange or lead a sales team, many other examples. Love Tommie for what he did for Neb but he could never do what SF has done after CFB. Wired different

Your not serious, you forgot when bobby Newcombe beat him out and he left the team frank had to go to Omaha to kiss hiss butt to come back. IMO the beginning of the end for frank

I thought that Crouch was better than Newcombe. No hate for Bobby. Can't blame Eric's desire to be #1. It was obvious that he was the leader of the team. And stop calling me Shirley!

Well, I can tell you this. I just wish we could have these kinds of arguments about our QBs today. To be honest, I'd take any of them back even though none of them could pass. Maybe Tommie is pissed off because SF said it looked like the former players were eating too much. He is a bit tubby now. As my grandma would say, he is a husky boy now.

Was Tommie part of the group of former players who greeted Frost in the weight room?

I don't even think Crouch was the best qb on his own team. BN was better IMO.

Those were the days. Apparently we had a Heisman winner that should have been riding the pine.

I think the only other time a team had multiple Heisman QB's on the field simultaneously was when Ron Powlus was on the field at ND.

Tommie Frazier did have a great supporting cast around him. Then again, maybe he inspired/demanded them to be their best. I remember Tommie getting into the face of guys in the huddle a few times. Michael Jordan-esque. He may not have been liked by his teammates, but he was respected. Similar to me in this forum.

Could Jammal Lord, Eric Crouch, Zac Taylor, or Taylor Martinez have done so well with the same group around him? I guess we will never know.
