Assuming that Masry makes grades, only 7 slots left until we're at 88 (3 over our limit).
1 Running back
1 Wide Receiver
2 Offensive Lineman
1 Defensive End
2 Corners
The Inn is full otherwise, and this assumes that 3 more current players leave after this semester.
Seriously, It's been a long time since we have a chance to actually fill up our scholarship allotment. Add on to that, in the past we could tell when we were getting to the Plan B and Plan C reaches.
These are the players in the 5 previous classes who committed during the last 2 weeks before signing day or after signing day:
Never Played:
Tre'vell Dixon
Dwayne Johnson
Dimarya Mixon
Drake Martinez
AJ Bush
Deandre Wills
Adrienne Talan
Lavan Ashton
Elijah Blades
Jordan Stevenson (returned a couple of kickoffs)
Limited Contribution:
Chongo Kolondo (never played until a Senior then got replaced mid season)
Boaz Joseph (ST only)
Sedrick King
Reasonably Good Contribution:
Antonio Reed
Jordan Ober
Alex Davis
Mohamed Barry
Lamar Jackson
TBD:
David Engelhaupt
Matt Farinok
Colin Miller
Damion Daniels
Kurt Rafdal
In the last 2 years of Pelini, we would have been just as well off ending recruiting after the 3rd week of January. Recruiting in the last 2 years of Pelini was horrible (after scoring some pretty good players the previous years). Riley's recruiting was a fraud (we'll see on some of the players, but numbers were really lacking).
For all of the Riley recruiting advocates, let me know when anyone from 2015 (the ones after Pelini was fired), 2016, 2017, or the 6 carryovers from 2018 ends up being a Lavonte David, Rex Burkhead, Ameer Abdulla, Taylor Martinez, Alfonzo Dennard, Dejon Gomes, Jeremiah Sirles, Jordan Westerkamp, Cethan Carter, Maliek Collins, Randy Gregory, or Alex Lewis. There may be a few eventually, but it's hard to admit without being a called a Bobot that Riley's recruiting wasn't even as good as Bo's.
Things have turned around really quickly with SF, it's really kind of amazing, even in a hype environment. This patchwork class could turn out to be our best class since Callahan's last full class in 2007.
