99+% of women athletes in college are treated well beyond their market value dictates they should. That number is also very high for male athletes also, including football players given the high number that never contribute. Life as a D1 athlete is frickin' awesome, especially today.

I think if you invest in the people playing emotionally it's becomes more compelling to watch. I was talking to my students today about basketball and if these group of girls in 7th grade stay with the 8th grade group and no one goes to Skutt they will have a legit chance at winning state in a few years. To me that's pretty exciting to follow but I get the college girls maybe not being the draw of no one is compelled to follow the teams.
