Tim Miles to return

No mystery that I'm in support of this decision. We will find out definitively next season, but I'd rather give the guy the players he recruited into their junior season before pulling the plug.

Teams make huge jumps all of the time. No reason why it can't be Nebraska next year.
I have seen you say this. So which class gets till after Junior season.... all of them?
How in the World did Maryland (who Nebraska beat) somehow manage to win 24 games this year with 3 freshmen in their rotation

Eichorst-confirmed statement just a few minutes ago. Like it or hate it, Tim Miles is our coach next year. Best possible outcome is what happened for Rick Pitino & the Gophers.

Always the chance he moves to a different job.

But what if the team gets mentally tired, or physically tired, or nervous, or starts pressing, or the shots just aren't falling, or the other teams' shots are falling, or someone gets hurt, or someone falls down on an in-bounds play - then being in the conversation for the NIT should be enough, right?

When did Nebraska fans become such excuse makers. Good teams don't make excuses, they win games. NIT is for mediocre teams. I guess that would be a step-up as the Huskers are a Bad team. SE has made another awful decision. Tim is 75-86 since coming to Lincoln. Is he going change? I bet "No". Nebraska loses because they don't care about basketball.

The class of Morrow, Watson, McVeigh, Jacobson, and the transfer from Georgetown. They will be the heart of the program next season and all will be juniors.

Nothing will change next year Eichorst.

Thanks. I thought maybe you were refering to the Freshmen. If this roster fails next year, there is no reason to believe it will be getting any better (and I already highly doubt it does)

I forgot to use the sarcasm font. That was like a Greatest Hits collection from throughout the season.

Not sure how another program could justify hiring Tim Miles at this point.

Then again, Greg McDermott had 4 losing seasons at ISU and got hired by Creighton, and proceeded to take the Jays to 4 NCAA tournaments. Knowing our luck, Miles would leave and have a ton of success at his next job.

Alot of people. Osborne hired him after all!

I will bet you a 1000 bucks Miles doesn't. He could possible win at the Division II level or a low level Mid-Major. No Power 5 Conference team is taking him. Even at Colorado State his team got beat in the first round of the NIT and then the next year lost in their first game in the NCAA tournament as an eleventh seed by 17 points to !2 seed Murray State. (who I think as I remember were pretty good)

Eichorst is an ass. Why didn't he back Miles earlier then? I think the team could have won a couple more games if they weren't on pins and needles with their coach. Most would have thought Miles was gone because Eichorst didn't give him the dreaded vote of confidence.
Yes, he did.

Nonsense. You are saying the players sucked because some folks on the interwebs said their coach was going to get fired? Why didn't they play better when Lee B wrote the glowing piece on Miles then?

GTFO

Interwebs? It sure would have made life easier for everyone involved if Eichorst would have shown he had their back.

Sounds as if Eichorst did privately give that vote of confidence. He has a policy to not comment on a coaches standing until after the season. If he continues to comment midseason then that policy would seem pretty foolish.

You have a 5 star, Copeland, transfer from Georgetown and a 4 star, Palmer, from Miami. Should help your team, along with Morrow and Watson. Can Miles get them to play together and defense.

I can't believe is isn't having daily press conferences expressing his love for a guy that averages 17 losses a year, and just finished tied for the most losses in school history. What a big meanie!

Copeland is a 5 star out of HS and was a 3 star at Georgetown and now has a history of back issues.

Palmer may or may not be eligible academically.

I find it strange that some of the same people that don't think Nebraska has the stroke to get a quality basketball coach somehow have the stroke to bring in transfers that were living up to the hype at their previous schools.

Players transfer for 1 of 3 reasons, playing time, issues with the coach, desire to win. No one looks at Nebraska basketball and says I'm goingbthere because they win. So that leaves the other two. Sorry but I'm not sold that these two guys are going to be anything more than Gill was/ is. He was another highly recruited player that transferred in and didn't perform up to they hype.

I'll be skeptical until proven wrong.

The glass is always empty for you when it comes to Husker hoops. Copeland has an NBA body and skills. Let's see how that works out. Gill could also be very good. We simply don't have enough of a body of evidence to make a claim that he isn't going to be good.

Gill is going to be a senior in 2017-2018. Even if he has a monster year next year, he won't have lived up to a top 50 player.

The glass isn't half empty for me. I just expect better than 12-19 in year 5. This was an opportunity to make a move to advance the basketball program. Opportunity missed.

That policy is for all coaches Shawn didn't hire. For example, he didn't just send a tweet in support of Riley mid-season but wrote a whole letter explaining his vote of confidence...plus went on the radio during the season touting his support of Riley.

It's kind of hard to call this a "policy" when it is selectively applied.

So when he commented on Miles recently, saying he believes in him, and supports him.... that did not count? Lol. But this was all OK when Pope Tom did it.
I wish I had a job where there were 14 people in my position, and I was constantly a bottom 4 performer. Then the company dumped a bunch of money into my department, bought me new offices, and some of the best sales equipment. It would be easy for me to convince a bunch of lemmings that having years of terrible sales was warranted, because the boss didn't hold my hand everyday to make sure I felt all fuzzy inside.

Oh, and I make millions doing it.... and get paid more than the department head. Makes perfect sense!

Congrats on your making millions. How much do you bench and how far can you drive a golf ball?

P.S. Unlike my husband, I can say I was wrong. Maybe it doesn't have anything to do with it being Shawn's hires. Maybe he just selectively applies this policy of not talking about coaches' standings during the season.

His resume is going to impress whom?

McDermott left Iowa State for Creighton. I could easily see Miles leave for a non power-5 job and have success right away. Tim Miles is a really good coach, we are just trying to see if his style is compatible to Big 10 basketball.

Let's not pretend that Tim Miles is some kind of idiot when it comes to the game of basketball.

I just proved you wrong once again Tom. Nobody is buying your crap

Most coaches won't OPENLY express any indication of interest until after they lose in the tournament.
You meant to say "openly" indicate interest. ADs know who their agent is and can work through back channels IF they are trolling for a different coach. I'm not sure that SE was seriously looking for a different coach. IMO, he has a list that he would pursue IF Miles leaves for some reason but I don't think SE was actively looking. IMO, the kind of guys that we would look at for NU wouldn't be a no doubt improvement over what we have so why change. Now if Bill Self suddenly decides he's had enough at KU THEN you throw the bank at him and if he bites you say, "Sorry Tim but...."

I don't think Eichorst was actively looking either, but why on Earth would Miles leave NU other than being fired? You don't seriously think a better job awaits him, do you?

He might not be an idiot when it comes to basketball, but B1G coaches sure have a knack of making him look like one.

No but I could see him being willing to take a lateral or notch down job with less pressure attached to it. He's in a good spot financially and no matter what some think, he's well respected. I can almost guarantee you that his name comes up when schools are looking for a new coach. Somebody is going to check and see if he's interested in a change of scenery. That said, I think he's really going to want to coach the talent he brought in.

Conjecture does not equal fact.

Lest you forget, Creighton was still in the MVC without any hint of the BE transformation when it hired McDermott. I think they were very comfortable that he could repeat the success in the MVC - that, plus Rasmussen's soothsaying ability to predict that McDermott's son would become national player of the year.

Can you tell me some of the schools that are interested in Miles?
No. Met him but don't know him. I could ask an AD friend of mine who is tight with Tim and maybe find out though. Miles took one of the worst (for your career) jobs and took that program to the NCAA in his second year. He has recruited very well recently and has in the past, turned around very poor programs at other schools. Somebody is going to look at that and say "well yeah but he's at Nebraska. Nobody wins there and he's still been able to get top flight talent this past year and for next year." He has PROVEN he can recruit and get to the dance at multiple programs now. We're upset because he's had a couple of bad years, but somebody else might look at that and see the reasons those happened.

No. Tom's wife. You must have missed that part. He's the wife of some guy named Tom. I mean she's. Yeah thats it she's, like its an actual woman posting.

A guy pretending to be his own wife on a football message board might be the oddest thing I've seen. My wife is a mental health therapist, I may run it by her are her coworkers to see what they think.
