Tim Miles to return

Eichorst-confirmed statement just a few minutes ago. Like it or hate it, Tim Miles is our coach next year. Best possible outcome is what happened for Rick Pitino & the Gophers.

What a stupid decision. Just proves basketball as usual has no priority at NU, but why make an incompetent comedian a millionaire to coach it?

Well...there should be no debate about what is expected next year....NCAA tournament or hit the road, MIles.
But what if the team gets mentally tired, or physically tired, or nervous, or starts pressing, or the shots just aren't falling, or the other teams' shots are falling, or someone gets hurt, or someone falls down on an in-bounds play - then being in the conversation for the NIT should be enough, right?

Being a coach at Nebraska is like being a quarterback at Nebraska, you just have your spot no matter how you perform.Poor coaching ought to at least be a pay cut, but it seems we reward it.

Extension time! Only way to win.

This could all be moot, if Miles bolts for another job.

3 years ago...almost to the day (March 14, 2014), NU was the 4th seed in the Big Ten tournament...considered by most to already be a lock for the dance and now playing for seeding. They had an 18 point 2nd half lead over Ohio State with about 13 minutes to go in the quarter-final. OSU began to make a run. They had cut the lead to 9 with 7:50 to go, but Walter Pitchford was about to regain momentum for NU with a thunderous dunk.

Instead, he missed the dunk. OSU scored a fast-break bucket to cut the lead to 7...on the way to erasing the full 18 point deficit and pulling of the stunning comeback. NU limped into the NCAA tournament - played embarrassingly bad in the game, complete with Tim Miles getting ejected. NU has crapped themselves in the 3 subsequent seasons...seemingly playing worse each year.

Tim Miles is still here.

Two huge things are missing for next year.

1) a good point guard that doesn't turn the ball over and can hit from the perimeter more frequently than Webster and leads the team in assists.

2) outside shooter that open it up inside to Morrow,Jordy and Jacobson and helps McVeigh so he doesn't have to force shots.

Alot of people. Osborne hired him after all!

He did win at every level ( most AD take that into consideration when hiring a Mid Major)and only one year In Lincoln...

Let's see what your boy Eichorst does in his next endeavor in hiring a Basketball coach.

Why? He has a great one here already.

I think this has been said many times but isn't SE's policy to not comment on coaches until after the season? That would explain the why now and not sooner.

I think most of us wonder why he waited until today to tell Miles he would be back (Miles said he didn't tell him until right before today's game). Why not tell him privately weeks ago? Eichorst did the same think with Pelini in 2013. He leaves everyone hanging and wondering whether the coach will return, and it leads to a lack of focus among the team.

That's on the coach. If your team is playing like shit, blaming the guy who would have to hire your replacement is lame as shit

Of course, these guys will need a couple of seasons to adjust to Big Ten basketball...thus buying Miles more time.

No mystery that I'm in support of this decision. We will find out definitively next season, but I'd rather give the guy the players he recruited into their junior season before pulling the plug.

Teams make huge jumps all of the time. No reason why it can't be Nebraska next year.
