This game should make Trev’s decision easier at least

To be fair, absolutely no coach will succeed here if NU continues to field a junior high level OL. Fix that first and go from there.
You know the thing that intrigued me today was that for the early part of the game, the Nebraska OL was doing a decent job. Obviously it didn't continue but you have to ask why they could have been good for a while and then suck later.

Like Purdy, right? That great body language and leadership. You sure know leadership when you see it.
? We only got to see Purdy play in high school film, 1 game at FSU, and a spring game. Nobody knew he had confidence issues. Now we do.

Leadership is not equal to making plays. It's about making those around you better, not worse.

You can see what's going to happen if you hire Rhule in that tape right there. He talks fast, surely he's a smart guy, but he folded like a cheap tent at some simple softball questions from the media.

Would you follow that clown into battle? I surely would not.

Hire him, IDGAF anymore. But I think he's a bad choice and I'm entitled to my opinion on it.

Hugh Freeze. Telling you all he would get this team winning year 2.

A lot of fans are going to be disappointed regardless who it is.

Year 1 no coach should be expected to not win sh.. with this team. I'm not saying it's the players fault either.

But I'm telling you Hugh Freeze would turn this $%# around year 2.

He's turned more teams around and kept winning for much longer than Rhule.

Freeze sounds like a lock for Auburn. War Eagle

I don’t see how it could be Joseph now. I was pulling for him, but what has he done?

He was a former player here, which so many idiots still think should matter, even after the disaster that was the Scott Frost tenure.

It's like they think Mickey Joseph is the only coach who would able to get recruits here....nevermind that even Mike Riley's staff brought in Top 25 recruiting classes. With NIL and the transfer portal, any good coach should be able to bring in plenty of talent here. We need someone who actually has a track record of developing that talent.

His indiscretions are probably a nonstarter. We roasted Frost for having an analyst have contact with players. Can’t imagine what we would do to a coach who hired hookers….

The other FACT is if you make him head coach it limits his contact with recruits.

You sure seemed confident that Purdy was the man this summer. CT sucked because of his haircut and how he talks and Purdy was going to set the world on fire because of body language. Anyone that didn’t see it was an idiot, right?

Matt Ruhle has turned around two college programs, but that doesn’t mean anything because of interviews. Sure let’s pass on all the candidates with good experience and just go find someone who doesn’t talk too fast and can kill an interview.

Is there a candidate out there you actually do like?

1. How likely is it a guy to risk that again? Seriously now.

2. Have you seen the hookers in counciltucky? Jackolanterns have more teeth.

3. Make it extremely clear Freeze can only have blow parties. No hookers.

? I made fun of SF for his 'thing with mop top' QB recruits. It was a joke. Your inability to put things in context shows me your incompetence. In addition, you never make a call on anything. You just attempt to tear people down. That's your only contribution to this board, sans posting some twitter posts here and there.

I don't have time to lay it all out for you. The fact that Rhule talks fast is a clue that he is intelligent. It's not necessarily a bad thing. You can't even take the clues I throw out there in the correct context.

I still like MJ, but as I have said repeatedly, I want to know what his plan for the offense is, as well as assistant coaches.

I certainly haven't interviewed all the guys out there, but I would be interested in BOB, Chadwell, and Lane.

Chadwell has moved up my list. We could do worse

The big concern would be what kind of staff he would hire, especially on the defensive side of the ball. If he brings his entire staff, it would be Scott Frost Part 2.

Chadwell has never coached at the Power 5 level, even as an assistant.....so I'd be very skeptical that he could put together a great defensive staff.

exactly.. plus he has a built in recruiting base down there at CC..

I like his offense though and it would work here, if we could get the players.

2 things are really important.. someone who can handle the pressure and someone who can get the players.

BOB can handle the pressure and get the players. MJ can do both as well, but what is his staff and offensive identity? Lane can get the players, but that could be another meltdown in the making too.

He’s beaten P5 teams already but I get your concern.

I find the player excuse hard to accept because obviously they've played well for periods of time. Today's performance in the early part of the game is a perfect example. The defense was on fire for a while. But the games often are lost in the second half which tell me the coaches haven't made the necessary half time adjustments. So to me it's more coaching than it is players.
I think it's more about the depth. Same 3 wr play the whole game. When Grant comes out there is nobody to run the ball. Defense is all fat lineman who play 3 plays and can't go anymore. All the backups are d 2 players at best.

Trev works with him tapping into his own network.

No coach, not even Saban could win with this group of players.
The first two drives prove your statement inaccurate. 10 points and 2/3 of a quarter were used up in an attack that was ground-based, quick passes, and misdirection. Then the Whip went off the reservation and tried to do what does not work, slow developing plays so the defense can run roughshod over the line... Worked like a charm. Whip is convinced that slow-developing plays are the strength of the offense, but the stats prove differently. The line needs to fire off the ball and get in front of the defenders to make a crease for the back. They are not capable of pass blocking, yet he insists on longer patterns where the QB needs to hold the ball. Purdy's brain can not process that fast and he bails extremely quickly. It is not the players, it is the coach.

The first half the defense held Minn to negative yards rushing, 0 points, and had them questioning themselves. SIX STRAIGHT 3 and outs on offense will cause any defense to get winded... The offense needs to protect the defense and the defense needs to keep the offense in the game. A competent OC will protect his players, not feed them to wolves. This is where MJ needed to take Whip's headset from him and take over the offense and continue his game plan.

This is exactly why there is value in having a head coach with a coordinator back ground. It gives you an extra layer of decision making/protection if one of the coordinators starts going rogue.
A head coach who was an offensive coordinator reigns in Whip yesterday before it is too late

Fits my narrative just fine. He passed on Justin Fields and Mac Jones in the 2021 draft for a corner. He could have done something about that couldn’t he. granted he drafted Corral this last year but it was too late.

whose fault is it that he didn’t have a good QB? But that doesn’t fit your narrative
Fields and Jones suck...what you just posted is a point in Rhule's favor.

That some pretty ironic shit. All you do is tear down. Before the season even started you decided the starting QB was a loser. You said he hated him and were sick of him based on some interviews. Now we have heard a terrific head coach who has already turned around two programs may be interested in the job and you want to trash him because of how he speaks in an interview. So there’s is a good chance you’ve already decided the head coach and starting qb suck, based on nothing actually football related.

So, no I don't go around making wild predictions, based on nonsense, I will leave that to you. I don’t know what will happen and don’t pretend to. I think there are alot of good candidates out there and will be happy if we can get one. In a perfect world I would still want Kiffin, but guys like Aranda, Ruhle, Stoops would be great too. I was really pulling for Mickey and think he has a super high ceiling, I think there are safer candidates out there, but will get behind him and hope for the best if he’s hired. I could get behind BOB, Herman, Klieman, etc too. I think the only legitamite candidates I’ve been hesitant on are Patterson and LL.
