When you look at what's going on at the Big 12 meetings in Phoenix, it really puts in perspective to me how dysfunctional the Big 12 is. Oklahoma is clearly not happy, Texas will not give up the Longhorn Network, Oklahoma State wants a Big 12 Network to form and West Virginia is mad their closest league foe is Iowa State (900 miles) away.

Meanwhile since Nebraska, Colorado, Texas A&M and Missouri left the league, while Baylor and TCU have been the too most dominant teams, along with OU, and their future TV value continues to dwindle.

A recent study conducted by the Big 12 says they would be better off adding two teams and playing eight league games and a title game vs. 9 games and no title game. BYU, Cincinnati, Memphis, Central Florida and Colorado State are the popular names coming up to add. Personally I'd add BYU and Boise State to maximize the football brands.

This just doesn't seem like it's going to end well. The Big 12 is trying to build a league to create more TV money to stay with the Big Ten and the SEC...well it's not going to happen. OU is starting to see that and they are being very proactive. It should be an interesting summer. I'm sure glad Nebraska got out of this mess.
