Here is our competition

Northwestern - playing the best looking at their roster they have a large amount of walok ons so I will have to say they are not that good

Minn - crappy offense good defense - If your defense has pulse this year and you can score 14 pts on them you win

Wi - Now they have no RB in fact I think they were counting on Stephenson being Clements back up - Their lines are not what they normally are this year but they are well coached - could still win the west

Iowa - I know that guy at Big10 network slobbers all over them - but I just do not see it again - mediocre at best and not very talented

Illinois - They are one of teams like Oklahoma state when we played them - they look the part athletes all over the place but they just do not play well

NU - Contrary to the Walk ons are bad club - we still have the most talent in the West, but based on first three gaes we are lower tier on coaching and we do have some glaring holes that are being exploited - If Riley and crew can rally the troops amnd plug those hol4es we have a real shot still and it would be a great start and much needed lift to the program. if however they continue to flounder around with mistakes and can not come up with solutions and if we do not get some players back from injury we have very few teams left who we could not lose to

The Northwestern Defensive scheme is the biggest surprise of the season. For a number of seasons under Fitzgerald, they would often win games nobody expected because their "Mensa Football players" could trot out a completely different and new offensive game plan every week. You couldn't prepare for them.

Well Fitz has now done this with his defense. Stanford was absolutely lost trying to figure out their different pressures, coverages and agressiveness. Kudos to Fitzgerald for surprising everyone early. It will be interesting to see how the league attacks them going forward. Will they be able to surprise in week 6 or 7 or 8? Because their offense is bad. Thorson is only completing 50%, and they've only scored 6 offensive touchdowns all season long. Considering they've played an FCS team, that's not good.

B1G play is coming up soon. We'll get to see how we're doing when facing our division opposition.

So with that said...do you still have us missing a bowl game?
if we do not improve on defense from where we are at then yes I will stick with 5-6 wins

We have five very good defenses we will have to play in the big10 games - if our defense cannot hold up its end we will not win these games

I won't deny the defenses will get tougher. But if you think Mitch Leidner and Joel Stave will exploit weaknesses, you're slightly delusional.

Schedule is the key. Who does each team play from the East??

Nebraska
MSU and Rutgers

1Win 1Loss

Wisky
Rutgers and Maryland

2 Wins

Iowa
Maryland and Indiana

2 Wins

Minny
OSU and Michigan

1 Win 1 Loss

NW
PSU and Mich

2 wins probably

Nebraska and Minny have the toughest road to win both games.

Wisky and Iowa have the easiest

NW should win both depending on how Michigan turns out.

It looks wide open with the Skers having the most difficult games in Lincoln, which I have to admit is an advantage.

It will be a fun ride either way!

Go Hawks!

Not a bad breakdown, but I am not on the NW train quit eyet. NW could lose to both Michigan and PSU.
