Thanks Tom

Ya it’s all toms fault. We would be so good if he’d never been a part of Nebraska.

We all know what he did for us as a coach. Him handpicking Frank when we had a lot of very good candidates drooling to take over the best team in the country (ala Mack Brown) was a mistake. Then taking a chance on Pelini was a hire that did not go well and set us back 10 years. Two bad hires that have strongly contributed to the status quo.

He hand picked Solich to keep the staff intact... If it wasn't broke you don't fix it.

After Pelini went on to Oklahoma and LSU as defensive coordinator just about every Husker fan had no problem with that decision... Plan BS that he set us back 10 years when Cally and now Riley have set this program back much more.

you seriously can't think Bo would be having a better season. We're playing a lot of freshmen that wouldn't be here. And im not saying that this is on Tom

I guarantee you that in the last three years bo would have a better record. He wouldn’t have lost to NIU, he would have won the West last year, and we wouldn’t have a empty stadium on tv.

I said no such thing. I was not a Pelini fan. But the facts are that coaches TO hired won 75% of their games, while coaches he didn't hire have only won 54% of their games. So to blame Tom Osborne is pretty dumb.

Say what you will, but the coaches who have taken this program to where it is were not former NU players and the only one who had a previous connection was Pelini. Solich may not have been the answer, but dismissing him after a 9 win season was the beginning of the long slide. Who knows what he would have done the next year with the staff changes he made and who here wouldn't be happy with the records and competiveness of his teams now?

Solich and Pelini won a hell of a lot more games than the 2 guys Osborne didn't hire

Pelini stepped into a program that had 17 future NFL draft picks. Riley stepped into the same program with 5 future NFL draft picks. Let's see how many future NFL draft picks the next coach gets from Riley....I'll wager at least double what he had given him.

Pelini still won 9-10 games after all of Callahan's recruits were gone.

Yes.
It's funny.
Riley can't be expected to be average with pelini recruits, while pelini somehow won 8-9 with pelini recruits. And I think we can all agree pelini was a below average HC.

Based on what? He wasn't Devaney or TO but relative to Clownahan & MR he's Vince Lombardi.

He was below average.
We should have won at least one, probably two or three conference titles with some of the players he had.
He was also good for one loss every year against a vastly inferior opponent.
He was a better coach than mike Riley, but Riley is more of an adult, better face of program, and gives a lot more effort in recruiting.
But my point is that bo did better with bo recruits than Riley has, and we fired bo.

Well, we'll just have to agree to disagree. "Seven" consecutive 9 or 10 win seasons, in my book, blows away MR by a country mile.

I really don't care if MR is more PC than Bo, Frost or whoever.....he's a lousy HC that just doesn't get it done.

"But my point is that bo did better with bo recruits than Riley has, and we fired bo."

Just another reason to get rid of this clown.

Yeah...I don't think we are disagreeing.
Riley is a worse head coach than bo pelini was, as regards to actual wins/losses. When it comes to being a face of a program Riley wins no doubt, but that's all.

There are a couple of you guys that I am convinced carry a picture of Riley in your wallet and spend some alone time staring at it when no one else is around.

This. Compare Solich and Pelini to Clownihan and Guy Smiley.

We should never have fired Solich. And if we were going to fire him we should have done it in 2002.

The real villain in the demise of Husker football is Harvey Perlman.

Ok. Cue all the Osborne trashers on here. "He recommended Pederson!" "He circumvented Byrne when he named Solich as his successor!" "He undermined Riley!"
