I want to start this thread that this post has nothing to do with the game and the outcome of it. I truly hope that it doesn't go down that path as theres plenty of others ones to do it in.
Today my wife, son (5), daughter(3), and my sons best friend (5) all got to experience their first Husker game. It was also the first baseball game for my daughter and sons friend. All of them dressed up in Husker red and were super excited for the game. We got there early to watch some warmups and went down the right field line to get closer to the players and the kids thought it was the coolest thing ever. Luis Alvarado immediately started waving to the kids. He was instrumental in our kids getting their first souvenirs as each kid was given a baseball. My daughter of course threw it back on the field assuming it wasn't meant to be given to her.
The kids cheered almost all game but at that age they grew tiresome but they stuck it out until the end.
My son was really excited going to the game because he wanted to get autographs after the game because that happened at the first minor league baseball he ever went to and thought that was so cool. So we printed up a sheet for each kid to get signed. We were a little nervous after the game because of their latest outcomes but those guys put that to bed quickly. Luis Alvarado once again was the man as he was the first guy to walk over to the kids, talk with them, ask them how they were and thanked us for coming. After that almost each and every player literally formed a line and signed the sheets for each of the kids. They were tickled pink and still can't stop talking about the experience.
I know it was extremely tough for them to deal with the losses but their efforts today made for the best experience these little kids could have had for a first time and definitely made some lasting impressions on them.
