Tennessee v Nebraska canceled

First reaction was "This is a total cop out". Then I saw the initial explanation from Mr Yogurt of needing to pay for the renovations.

Then I saw we replaced this with bull crap opponents. This really looks bad on NU. There is no way to play it. You replace the marquee matchup with bullshit? I know you want to mirror Indiana, but WE ARE NOT INDIANA.

Count me in as not being a fan of Dannen. I'll support Rhule and I totally get the idea of not wanting to play Tennessee next season. It's Dannen who is doing some things that I don't like, including giving in to Rhule and not playing Tennessee then making up a silly excuse. That's my perception of it. I also don't like the idea of changing our concessions and "doubling the revenue" (translation = doubling the prices or cutting back on quality). I also heard that Dannen wants to do away with tale gating at half time. No re-entry. Wants to open a beer garden somewhere outside the stadium- in other words, you can only drink Dannen's $12 cups of beer.
This as we’re told how much money we make in the big ten and have check celebrating parties.
Add in dannen wants to stick it to our best fans just because.
So….wtf is the point of the big ten checks again? Cant wait for dannen to give himself a raise while he struggles to figure out how to get grass in the stadium. So hard.

Then hes a bad businessman.
Beating tennessee will bring much more revenue long term, and we have plenty of money and home games.
Mr Yogurt thinks about his wallet, and protects it with DBK coming home. He is another heartless ahole if everything is true.

I mean... Look at his Skippy record.

Regents need to be hard looked once in forever in hiring these asshole awful ADs for free pension money.

I am one one is a small group here with alcohol sales. This fanbase CANNOT HANDLE IT!!! For the love of God!!! If you saw the absolute puke fest at the concert a few years ago!!! Damn. Who the hell wants to put their lives at stake

As a student I remember my whole dorm floor used to complain about the super weak schedule. How come everyone else gets to have great games and NU gets its ass kicked vs local shit stains?

Not sure I understand the point you're trying to make here. You say we are not Indiana, but Indiana curb stomped us. Then you go on to say we get our ass kicked by local shit stains (assume you mean Iowa, Minn, etc). So, you're admitting that we've sucked lately, even against lower tier programs. Yet, you're pissed that we aren't scheduling a likely sure loss on top of all that? Not busting your balls, just not following you.

The losing money for the remolding in 2026,2027 isn’t worth canceling the series with Tennessee. Have been looking forward going to this game since they announced it clear back in 2006.
Tennessee disappointing decision not playing in 2016 and 2017 because of wanting to play Virginia Tech on a race track.

Very disappointing in Dennon’s decision now.

I will concede that Ohio State took the game off when we played them in Columbus but we lost that game by four and absolutely had a chance to win. The Vols lost to OSU by 25. So no I do not think it’s a stone cold lock that Tennessee would have swept the series.
Side note: I've thought about Ohio State and how we could have played them so close regardless of Ohio State playing their B game. Bottom line- Ohio State played tight against us and very tight against Michigan. But NU and Michigan both had something really no one else had- a great defensive line. I think that was the main requirement to beating the Buckeyes last year. We are going to miss Nash, Ty and even the transfer kid more than anyone realizes.

Do we know if Dannon proposed moving the years of the games back or did he just start with “we are canceling”? What if he proposed moving the years and Tennessee declined? We made adjustments for them in 2016 I would hope they would have reciprocated but that’s what I think is most important to know before I pass judgment.

I am sure it will come out in a book someday. Winking

we haven't played 8 home games since 2013

now all of a sudden it's paramount

lamest coward shit ever
Paramount that season because all other games will have reduced capacity. I don't like it but context matters. I also don't need to write checks.

Would have loved to see keeping this game as part of a building fund contribution to make up the shortfall.

Lifestyle inflation happens in corporate context too. Sucks, but that BIG money is already spent.

That’s exactly what is being reported. We offered to push them back and they refused.

Apparently NU asked for the date to be moved and TN said no.

I hate that this series was cancelled. It shouldn’t have been rescheduled after Tennessee backed out earlier.

I wouldn’t be surprised to find this topic at the top of the Iowa board as well. Iowa fans are scum, that is all.

I see your point, but you would have thought Dennen would have already mentioned that if that was the case.

This is the reality of college football now. With an expanded playoff, there's no reason to play a tough non-con. Nebraska's not going to be the only ones to do it.
exactly did you see ohio states non conferance last year? some teams use every advantage the can...others call for a onside kick up by 11

I think the Tennessee AD said that Dannen’s wife actually made the call to him because as she put it “He’s being a little a bitch”.

Acting like Nebraska is the only team moving away from P4 opponents in the non-con is clueless. No coach in the country wants to play a top 25 non-con opponent week 3 of the season. They all want to do away with conf title games too. It sucks because of course fans want to see these games.
Yeah, Rhule isn’t the only pussy that’s a head coach. Doesn’t make me feel better though. Maybe it does you.

Then why do we have people on here acting like they are? I mean Tennessee had a situation 10 years ago that warranted moving the series. Pushing back another decade isn’t what I would be for today but now we have a situation that warrants a change (getting another home game to offset less income per game in 2027). Guess some fans have a purely emotional reaction, others see the business side of it. And that’s ok but to be calling each other pu$$ies over it….guess we all better meet up at Hy-vee parking lot to settle it

Seems we have a very soft, fragile group of fans on this board
