Rhule thinks highly of him… after Ryan Day loses to Michigan again this year and gets fired for this unforgivable sin, does Carter go after Rhule?

Well dang. I didn't agree with everything he did, especially what was brought up in the article, but overall I feel he did a good job and disappointed to lose him

Starts January 1. Will have to hire a new AD with Gene Smith retiring June 30. Hopefully Les Wexner and Carter can get along. Living in Columbus the search was kept under wraps. I don't think the major news outlets knew when a decision was going to be made.

I think Vrabel likes the NFL setup better. Doesn't have to worry about NIL and 24/7/365 recruiting whirlwind.
I think you're right about Vrabel, but I also think that's the same case for Harbaugh yet he won't leave Michigan (yet).

Something about being successful at your alma mater will keep you around even if you'd prefer to be somewhere else.

But I could be way wrong on Harbaugh and he absolutely loves Michigan & wouldn't dream of being anywhere else.

NFL players hate harbaughs guts and that’s exactly why he will never receive another NFL offer

Guy had to beg the Vikings to interview him last year and f*cked that up, too

He is at (above?) his ceiling

Don't know if that is a good thing or a bad thing for NU. Not sure how Carter is perceived in terms of job performance. But no doubt it is a big pay raise for Carter. OSU is twice the size of NU.

The new style of NFL coach is not authoritarian. Everyone gets that it’s a business, and if you don’t do your job well, it’s Not For Long. No one is gonna bs their way through anything.

Andy Reid is not a yeller, but has great organizational skills, an eye for talent and a creative football mind The players respect him and will play for him. Zac Taylor, McVay, and Siriani have alpha personalities, but they don’t bully and intimidate players like Jim Harbaugh. You can get away with some of that in college as long as you’re winning.

There was a LJS recently; Carter met most of the markers the board had set for him. Got a bonus. With budget cuts coming....probably a wise move on Carter's part. I think there was some friction between Ricketts/Pillen and Carter/Green. We will wait and see how the next guys do. But their hands may be tied...like never before.

It’s officially the Wild West. No reason we can’t do it too. Go poach a big-name President.

@Board of Regents, please do not screw this up.
The Board of Regents didn't exactly poach a big name Chancellor to replace Ronnie Green. They got the guy, Rodney Bennett from Southern Mississippi. Southern Miss has 10,000 less students than UNL and their endowment is $136 million. NU's is 1.7 billion. However, Dr. Bennett's specialty seems to be increasing enrollment, which is something UNL is struggling with. Also, Bennett closed down all on campus classes and buildings for the Volleyball Day next week, so there is that.

When Rhule took the job he went on about how leadership was aligned - Alberts, Green and the Admiral. Now that Ronnie and Ted are gone I hope Matt doesn't lose that luvin feeling.

IF Rhule can turn it around back to a winning program, they will be plenty of luvin feeling for him from the fans regardless of the whatever administration is in place. And, I'd guess the guy at the very top (Pillen) would want Rhule to stick around if he turns out to be a winner.

And of course the opposite also is true. If he disappoints the fans, no administration is going to be able to save him either.

Any reduction in the rate of increase in NU’s budget is going to be directed at academic fluff.
