one can hope Lee will follow a similar path as ZachTaylor did in 2005.. He started real slow as a first year starter in a new system and then took off with game 4.

And as usual, to make your "stats" seem more incriminating, you conveniently leave out the 3 TD passes. And remember, one of those ints bounced off of Morgan's facemask. It should have been a catch, but instead it was an int. Change even that one pass and this is what those stats look like:
17/28, 3 TDs, 1 int, and 61% completion rate.

Drops happen every game. Deflections off of face masks into the hands of the opponent don't. If you want to place blame of that play on Lee you have a stronger hatred for Lee's supporters than I realized.

Yep. TA got a lot of unwarranted criticism on this board. In a different system, he would have been a great quarterback. In our system, he was a good one, and one that won us games a lesser QB would have lost.
The jury is out on TL. He had a shaky game, but the offense still scored 35 points while playing most of the game from a hole.
Neither TA or TL are responsible for the offensive line, which has consistently been a subpar during the Riley era. Neither are responsible for the defense, which gave up 42 points in the first half. They're just the face of the program, which has many problems beyond quarterback play. Swapping TL for TA didn't magically cure those ailments. Swapping Gebbia or O'Brien for Lee won't either. Hopefully Lee will make a jump from this game. Hopefully the rest of the team will as well.
Lee did not have a good game against a competent D, not an excellent D. Arguing about particulars is beside the point. But receivers are involved in the overall productivity of the passing game. For example, a QB could be 0 for whatever is the WRs can't catch. And of course Oline protection is also involved. But that doesn't change the fact that he didn't have a good game. And Oregon will not be the best D we face. So I really hope he uses this game as an opportunity to learn. Opposing D coordinators will be studying this game for sure.
As for the wideouts, only two have decent game experience. JD has played very well for having played just two games. I expect Tyjon's game play IQ will increase with each snap he takes.

And you don't think those same things affected TA? I'm tired of hearing how TA never completed a forward pass or doesn't know how to throw the ball. He was a great passer at times, average or below at other times. But for the most part, he was a good, solid qb, so people shouldn't feel the need to put him down to make their point about Lee.
After watching the blackshirt pass defense these couple games, I can see why Lee was lighting it up in the spring and during fall camp going against these guys. Pretty easy to pass when there is no pass rush and receivers are running free. Seriously though, he probably is looking at tighter windows and feeling a little more rushed than what he has been used to. Hopefully things will slow down for him, but his receivers need to help him out also.
I think Tommy might have won that game. Lee's passing consistency needs to come up a bit. His poor mobility could be more important of a liability than I thought.
This is pretty much a ridiculous thread because everyone is still basing their opinions on the Mike Riley hire. People that are protecting Mike blamed TA for everything that happened. They said everything would be fixed with TL being here. Now it's the anti-Riley's blaming TL and throwing him under the bus trying to hold the Riley supporters accountable for bragging TL up so much.
We just need to stop bagging on TL and maybe admit there is some coaching issues here. It hasn't appeared they have been able to do any development or improvement with the QB's they have had so far. Early or not, these guys had a lot of time to work with TL in the last 18 months and I'm not impressed with how much better he is now then when he was at Tulane......yet.

So sick of the coaching piece. Yes, it matters. Why don't we admit we just don't have the athletes. Name of NFL prospect on either side of the ball that'll go in the first 4 rounds? We don't have one prospect that's a top 10 in any position. Not even our kicker and we're known as kicker "U". With our recruiting it's. It changing anytime soon.

Langsdorf coached Eli Manning, among other well regarded QBs. There is a difference between "making all the throws" and making good in game decisions. The last QB that was really skilled at that was Zac Taylor.

#1 pick - no, not discussed or reported, IIRC. One and done was discussed as a possibility. The people taking cheap shots at Lee should check themselves. He had a rough day, but not all of it was his own doing. The down side to being able to get the ball through tight windows is that he takes some chances with throws that he probably shouldn't. He seemed to be looking for Stan for stretches during the game. I think JD and Tyjon will be bigger parts of the mix as they get more game experience and that will help. But man, Westy would have been nice to have last Saturday.

I don't think Chris Mortensen has any big love affair with Riley and some of it came from him but obviously Billy Devaney is a biased source and I think he was pumping him up some. I still think he's going to be a good one for us. Playing at Eugene was a big jump for him and he had some pretty bad luck on a couple of tosses.
He had a terrible O line at Tulane. Maybe the worst one in D-1. He got hit a bunch. Their RB averaged under 4 ypc at Tulane and last year in the NFL was averaging over 5 ypc. When asked about how he made so many yards after contact in the NFL he said, "I had to learn how to do that at Tulane because our O line was bad and I usually got hit as soon as I got the handoff" . I paraphrase but you get the drift. Give Lee some time.

I did answer your question with facts. His luck was bad at Tulane only in the fact that he had no help there. You're ready to give up on his Husker career for some reason after 2 games. Sure glad you didn't have any influence on Scott Frost's career at NU.

He's got a BIG-TIME arm...like its as pretty as Jeff George coming out of his hand. There are clearly decision-making and accuracy issues so far though.

He does need to improve. However, Tanner Lee is the least of our problems right now.
