Super Bowl III and IV arguably are the two biggest upsets in Super Bowl History and it established the AFL not being a second rate football league.
"Fifty-five years ago today, the Jets won Super Bowl III against the Baltimore Colts. Only a few days before the game, quarterback Joe Namath guaranteed the victory. It was a bold prediction, considering the Jets were significant underdogs coming into the game."

I was just a kid but I remember how ridiculous Namath's prediction sounded to me. My cousin was a Namath fan and embraced his boldness. I thought he was crazy.

How many of us have seen every Super Bowl?

🙋🏼
I missed the 1985 Super Bowl XIX (49ers-Dolphins) due to riding a Navy ship (USS CALIFORNIA). Back then there was no streaming Internet on Navy Ships so we only heard the results by Navy message. The result was relayed to the crew after the game over the 1MC shipboard intercom (aka Bitch Box). I watched only part of another in the airport in Atlanta before getting on an airplane for LA. The pilot gave us updates during the flight.

The first Super Bowl I remember even thinking about was XIX - one of the older kids I looked up to like the 49ers - so I rooted for them but don’t even remember watching the game.

The first Super Bowl I remember watching intently was Super Bowl XXIII - when the great Joe Montana led an awesome final drive capped with a TD to John Taylor. Awesome game!

If people think there is hatred in politics these days, it is nothing compared to how much some people hated Namath with his white shoes, panty hose commercial and Fu Manchu. My dad fumed his showboating would be the beginning of the end of good sportsmanship in pro sports and like a lot of other things, dad ended up being right.

Remeber it all very well, Namath became a household name and became a hot commodity for commercials and adds.

1984 is the first Super Bowl that I remember in detail. Marcus Allen reversing field is that memory.

remember going hunting or sledding during those first super bowls and coming in and watching the endings. also remember kids playing backyard football just outside the end zones during the games

How so? Whenever I watch an NFL game, I think the sportsmanship, if anything, is too good. Game ends and it's one big kumbaya, with everyone glad handing and laughing it up and hugging and swapping jerseys. Losing team acting like it's no big deal that they just got their butts whipped. Gotta go kick it with their bros from the other team. Showboating and bad sportsmanship are not one in the same.

Chiefs gotta keep Eagles out of 3rd and short...take away the tush push and make Hurts beat you another way, and if that happens so be it...but ya can't let em get to 3rd and 1 or 2 all game.

Whom to cheer for this game? Tough decision for me. I lived in Bala Cynwyd for a few years many moons ago and I porked a few eagles fans so for the slooths I guess I’ll cheer for the cheesesteaks
