"Fifty-five years ago today, the Jets won Super Bowl III against the Baltimore Colts. Only a few days before the game, quarterback Joe Namath guaranteed the victory. It was a bold prediction, considering the Jets were significant underdogs coming into the game."Super Bowl III and IV arguably are the two biggest upsets in Super Bowl History and it established the AFL not being a second rate football league.
I missed the 1985 Super Bowl XIX (49ers-Dolphins) due to riding a Navy ship (USS CALIFORNIA). Back then there was no streaming Internet on Navy Ships so we only heard the results by Navy message. The result was relayed to the crew after the game over the 1MC shipboard intercom (aka Bitch Box). I watched only part of another in the airport in Atlanta before getting on an airplane for LA. The pilot gave us updates during the flight. How many of us have seen every Super Bowl?

If people think there is hatred in politics these days, it is nothing compared to how much some people hated Namath with his white shoes, panty hose commercial and Fu Manchu. My dad fumed his showboating would be the beginning of the end of good sportsmanship in pro sports and like a lot of other things, dad ended up being right."Fifty-five years ago today, the Jets won Super Bowl III against the Baltimore Colts. I was just a kid but I remember how ridiculous Namath's prediction sounded to me. My cousin was a Namath fan and embraced his boldness. I thought he was crazy.
Remeber it all very well, Namath became a household name and became a hot commodity for commercials and adds."Fifty-five years ago today, the Jets won Super Bowl III against the Baltimore Colts.
