I don't know if this case is going to affect the evolution of college football GMs going forward. In this case, Stanford's AD just announced he is stepping down, so it is unique to this case.I wonder how the role of GMs will evolve in college football. Will it closely mimic the NFL or will it vary wildly from program to program? Of course this situation is unique given Luck is a legend at Stanford and he’s being tasked with cleaning up his Alma Mater.
He is not leaving the NFL .Jim Leonhard was just promoted to Asst. Head Coach of the Broncos, but I think he would be a great fit at Stanford. They are not going to win a Natty, but usually can recruit a great, smart QB. Leonhard's D could be a nice combo. He may be holding his cards for a better gig in the BIG.
