Sports center segment

I can't believe sports center had an entire segment on how NU shouldn't be ranked in top 10. They had sports science do a clip on our power ranking should be 26th and our efficiency should be 44th. How come we aren't doing that for all the top 10 teams. I'm curious to see where we would compare. I know we haven't played the top competition but the season is only half way done and you would think you would need to compare and contrast to something. Good thing we can prove ourselves these next two weeks. Let's just win this thing today. Make a statement Skers!

You can't play the schedule we have, look as shaky as we have doing it, and expect to be taken that seriously. ESPN is not biased against us, they just have a whole world to entertain, not just Nebraska fans. Their sports science segments are actually pretty badass and well executed, I always learn something from them. Plus, the great thing about this "do we belong" stuff, is that the answer is totally in our hands. ESPN will have no bearing on whether or not we deserve to be there or where we'll end up, that's in our hands, just like you want. I'd wait for the "ESPN hates us" stuff until after we beat a team with a pulse. I think you'll see TONS of positive attention pointed our direction if we win tonight, tons of it, and a lot of it from ESPN.

Wasn't trying to imply ESPN hates us. I've just never seen sports science do anything about any team on where they think they should be ranked. I think I did say at least we have two weeks to prove ourselves. There are several teams that haven't had amazing schedules yet. Look at Washington. Who have they beat. I know they have a larger point spread for each win but they have the same record. I'm just saying if we are going to do a segment like that why don't we wait til the end of the season or at least compare to another school. At least we can have a better debate that way. I agree we haven't played top opponents but we will today and next week. Let's just win

Washington passes the eyeball test, bigtime. Few people doubt their authenticity. They win, and look great doing it, with a coach who's had some success in his time. Waiting until the end of the season to do that segment on us might outdate itself and become obsolete if we don't continue to have some success. ESPN has to fill a lot of airtime, gotta make a story while it's still a story or risk losing said story.

We can either prove them wrong or correct tonight. Vegas had us a TD+ on the wrong side of the line as well.

Gonna get a lot of answers tonight.

probably need to find some more viewers anyway they can, it's pretty segmented these days (b1g network doing them no favors) and getting a rise outta us is low hanging fruit.

if the media and fans don't like where were at, oh well. keep winning and keep pissing them off...

Hell, Missouri was in the title talk a few years ago when they played a weak schedule on the weak side of the SEC. There's teams like this every year, but Nebraska is an easy target with a large, testy fan base.

I missed where they put a laughing emoji when updating any other teams score. Sure, we probably are not top 10 material, but they act like jilted high school kids.

Surely you've followed some of our own game threads on this site? I've seen a lot worse from our own fans than a laughing emoji. That stuff doesn't bother me at all though.

It don't think it was a laughing emoji. it was a "cold sweat" emoji. I'm not the emoji authority, but I had read somewhere that it was more of an upset alert than just a laugh.

They were going to do one on ND but... They were going to do one on TX but... They were going to do one on Houston but...

yes it was a sweating emoji

for all the anti-political correctness rhetoric on this site .. people sure seem to go out of their way looking for ways to get offended when it comes to the Huskers

How do you figure,non-conference teams,Portland St.,Idaho and Rutgers all with a losing Record,Idaho is 4-4.Stanford appears to be not as strong as first thought neither is Oregon who was alot healthier when we played them.Washington's closest game was at Arizona winning by 7.I just don't get the eye test thing,we will see when they play Utah.Until then I am not the impressed.

Who cares? The great part about it is we can prove it on the field. Just look at Iowa last year, they almost snuck into the playoff before it was clear they were not an elite team. And we all doubted them on this site all the way until Stanford exposed them. We will be doubted until we win tonight and maybe until we win next week. But that's ok, maybe we aren't worthy of a top 10 ranking, right now no one truly knows. But in 8 days we'll have a great idea, so let's not worry about segments on sportscenter until then. I know it's been awhile since we've been in this position but some of the handwringing over ridiculous stuff is just sad, enjoy the ride. We don't need validation from Espn to have a great season. We're playing for more in game 8 then we have for awhile, don't let anyone else ruin that for you, it's fun and doesn't happen that often so savor it.

I hate ESPN. That said, in some ways their Husker bashing is a testament to the fact that the Nebraska brand still means something, it still resonates. The reason why they don't do the same analysis for Baylor or West Virginia is that nobody gives a shit about them.

You obviously haven't watched ESPN the last 25 years and how they propped up tons of teams that played nobody and looked like garbage while doing it.

Of course you're free to disagree with most of the country, but they look like the real deal so far. I've no idea, their game against Utah tonight will also be very telling, but to now, they look really good. Maybe we'll win, and they'll lose, and all it will take care of itself? Just like it should.

Please enlighten me how you and I have anything to do with where the Huskers are ranked.

You and I have zero to do with where we're ranked, and if that's what you meant then I misread your intent. I read your statement as Nebraska doesn't have anything to do with where their ranked.

I can admit I took it as a laughing one. And yes I guess it got my hackles up a bit. Thought it was out of place and unnecessary.

It's my favorite channel and it's never bothered me when they do that stuff one way or the other.

Win, and flip 'em the bird. That's how you do it, and every fan base in every part of the country thinks their biased against them at some point and pay to much attention to somebody else at some point.

ESPN doesn't affect my mood or my fandom and I take it for what they are, entertainment.

Iowa got the same treatment last year as we are getting currently and a decade ago Kansas State was consistently ridiculed for running up wins against poor teams

up to this point our season has been a complete carbon copy of last years Iowa team ... last year this board was overjoyed and actively participating in the media and on- line mockery of Iowa ... odd how we are now outraged at the injustice

Exactly. My wife is a Notre Dame fan and she is constantly talking about ESPN's anti ND bias! Ha. Too funny

I agree, but I think they do that to get to husker fans, which oddly increases viewership.

Well, if that is their misguided attempt to get me to watch, it doesn't work. I rarely watch ESPN, maybe a handful of times a year and that is usually by accident, and to think they would go to all that work to target a specific group to make them angry enough to watch their station is bit of a stretch. You give ESPN way too much credit all around. I will never understand why people let things like this get under their skin.

Disney company, most things they do is strategic, within reason.

People say they rarely watch, but quote them any second the say Nebraska.
