I have lived in a home and they are very quiet, but I live alone and work from home so I hated the isolation, every apt I try just is to noisy (the last 2 anyway which are newer in southeast Lincoln an area I like), I have heard of apts that are built with soundproofing but dont see any in Lincoln, would there be a mkt for such a thing. I assume it would raise costs about 20%? Id be happy with just some system to soundproof around my sleeping area. Any suggestions would be appreiciated.

Can't help you, but it reminds me of an awkward stay at a hotel with the father-in-law when the couple next door damn near took the wall down they were getting after it so hard. My wife thought it was hilarious.

I have lived in numerous apartments during my various sojourns. I have never found an apartment complex that wasn't noisy. There just is no way around it.
What I discovered was that if you want a truly quiet apartment it is best to find some big old Victorian house that someone has converted into two or three apartments. A lot of those older houses had high ceilings and thick walls. I lived in two such apartments and they were great.

There are various products for sound proofing rooms but the best and most effective ones require being installed along the studs/frames before you put up the drywall.
This is correct and it is not terribly expensive as I recall. I managed several major remodels at schools and we sound proofed them this way and it worked. You could have a party in the hallway and not hear a thing in the classroom.
My wife started sleeping with a fan on several years ago and now when we travel we take a sound machine with us and it does help.
This is why when I reserve a hotel room I try to get on the upper floor so no one is over me.

Rent a small suite so you get out of the apt during the day and feel like a regular person.. couldn't cost more than a few hundred depending on how much room you need.. there are also those office/shared workspaces too. Even if you only go 3 days a week, it might be money better spent than some sort of soundproofing. my .02 anyway.. good luck

Have you explored keeping the home and working elsewhere, or renting a work space as nik said?
Hard to sell a house and flush money away renting then regret it cuz of noise.
But I also get the isolation thing. Not fun.

Kind of an odd thing, Ive lived in apts alot and only recently has the noise bothered me, might be getting old, I was riding my bike thru town today and it dawned on me its non stop noise out here and that has never bothered me. So Im hoping to adapt to this apt, I lived here before for 7 years and for most part liked it, the previous apt before my house really did have noise issues , it was new and was a villa with a street passing right in front so you had cars driving thru 8 feet from your windows, and parking 3 feet outside your windows with people beeping their security systems at all hours.
I did some research and heres an apt thats soundproof and I read where tenants said they didnt here a thing. http://www.gebhartproperties.com/Residential/Briarcliff_East/Overview.php Dont know the mkt but rents look reasonable, I would easily pay extra 300-500 a month to have great noise reduction thats 3600 to 6k a year, I know Im prolly the exception who would be willing to pay that , but you would think that would pay for itself in not to long a time.

Well my new apt is ending up to be reasonably quiet, Im gonna try out the white noise thing also. My backup option is this lol

foam ear plugs cost about a buck a pair. Beyond that, just turn up the TV like all the other old goobers do.

Yes i think those were probably built in the 80s or so I think building were built thicker then, I lived at tanglewood 10 years ago and they were built in 90s and I thought they were quiet.
Do you have shared walls, alot of places have utility walls between units and that helps alot, then its just a matter of mostly above and below.
