Good lord am I glad I waited until this morning to check back in. Some of you guys are some negative nellies! Anyway let's take a walk on the bright side.

1. Young is going to be a star. Second on the team in tackles in his first game as a true freshman. Also had a very good pass break up. He will be the leader of that very talented LB corps in the future.

2. Tommy is clearly improved. While he did have a costly interception (I kinda think he was trying to throw the ball away but it caught in the wind), he looked composed, went through progressions, and was very accurate for a good portion of the game. If the line can keep him upright, he'll win us a lot of games over his last two years here.

3. Westercamp is clearly in for a big year. He was the main down field target all day. Moore is in for a good year as well if he can get healthy. He looked smooth and confident out there and was great on the jet.

4. Tyson Broekmeier. I realize he is no Sam Foltz, but the kid stepped up. He wasn't great but he was serviceable as a punter when called on. Not bad for a kid brought in as a QB from Western Nebraska who had never seen the field before.

5. Tackling as a whole looked much better. Even my fiance said so, and she's never read the horror stories of the scrolls. They made the open field tackles when necessary and kept big plays from getting bigger, with the obvious exception of Hill.

6. Nobody got spit on on the sideline in a fit of rage.

7. It was great to see halftime adjustments. The staff obviously put in work with the players during half and the team responded well.

8. Gerry, Banderas, and Collins all made plays. Those three are our big three on D this year and they all made big plays when it mattered.

9. Plenty of ESPN coverage. They have been replaying highlights from this game alot this morning for some reason. No more bias!

10. It was game one. Ohio State proved it last year, if you are going to lose, lose early. Come out strong the rest of the year and you can make a splash. We play a much weaker opponent next week, which gives the team a chance to work on the little things in a live situation and fix what's wrong before Miami and the conference season starts.

Obviously there were a few things concerning to me that you guys have combed over again and again since the clock hit zero yesterday, but know there were positives and improvements over last year. We will regroup and this can still be a very good year. I'll stick with my 10 win prediction and a CCG appearance. Here's to coming out strong next week!
