....and loving it, for the most part, it reminded me of the VAST BD songbook....and frankly I love many covers of his songs as well, or better...

I know he's not every one's cup, but if yo a mind to, his three favorites for you...

Mine?
3.To make you feel my love
2.It's alright...don't think twice

So did the cast Dylan as a guy who can actually sing? Damn I couldn't stand to listen to the dude.

Unclear if you want best Dylan songs or if you want best Dylan covers. This list could fit either question.

1. All Along the Watchtower
2. Hard Rain's Gonna Fall
3. The Times They Are A-Changin
4. Dont Think Twice, It's All Right
5. Knocking on Heaven's Door
6. Masters of War
7. Subterranean Homesick Blues

Man this is harder than I thought it would be....

the guy has two voices. one is irritating the other out of site. don't have a clue how that works. heard about it years ago. then heard it at two different concerts.

hard to believe that Like a Rolling Stone didn't make any list so far. It's my #1. Hard to beat the line "When you ain't got nothin', you got nothin' to lose". Other favs include Girl from the North Country and Talking World War III Blues. The latter has another great line (when taken in its context)- "You can be in my dream if I can be in yours."

I would add:

1. It Ain’t Me Babe
2. I Threw It All Away
3. I Shall Be Released
4. Positively 4th Street
5. Just Like A Woman
6. All I Really Want To Do
7. You Ain’t Going Nowhere
8. Too Much Of Nothing
9. If Not For You

true... actually mixing thoughts😜
Almost ALWAYS i like covers of his better than his own voice... but what a writer!
Great list, btw

This thread reminds me of that 60 Minutes interview Dylan did with Ed Bradley where he admitted that he cannot write songs like those first magical songs.

" I don't know how I got to write those songs. Those early songs were almost magically written," says Dylan, who quotes from his 1964 classic, "It's Alright, Ma." "Try to sit down and write something like that. There's a magic to that, and it's not Siegfried and Roy kind of magic, you know? It's a different kind of a penetrating magic. And, you know, I did it. I did it at one time." Does he think he can do it again today? No, says Dylan. "You can't do something forever," he says. "I did it once, and I can do other things now. But, I can't do that."

Saw him in concert along with Paul Simon. He was incoherent. Some filthy hippie told me he was hopped up on Vicodin as his drug of choice
