Exactly what is a pro style offense anymore. Is it Carr with the Raiders or is it Jackson with the Ravens? Lots of wiggle room there. With the QBs he’s targeting I have to believe it will be more Ravens than Raiders.

I took a generic look at Baylor from 2017-2019 when Rhule was there. His primary QB was Charlie Brewer.
Year 1 Brewer ran 8 times a game. Brewer had 23% of the team's rushing attempts.
Year 2 Brewer ran 10 times a game. Brewer had 26% of the team's rushing attempts.
Year 3 Brewer ran 10 times a game. Brewer had 29% of the team's rushing attempts.
This year NU had 420 rush attempts, with CT/Chubba/Smothers averaging 12 rushes a game. I used the "games" they played, the number of rushes, and then the accumulative totals of all 3 QBs. (CT 56 att/ CP 24 att/ LS 12 att). 22%.
It could be fair to say the QB will have between 20% and 30% of the rushing attempts in a Rhule offense.
How many were called QB runs or being flushed out of the pocket is hard to say.
34 or so rush attempts is pretty “classic” pro style football in my mind. Especially considering the QB is getting a decent chunk of those and they are not going to be all designed runs. It’s just a given you are going to get flushed out a handful of times.
So a QB in this offense is going to have to be effective throwing the ball. Won’t just be student body left and right the whole game.
I would expect IF we have an athlete like Sims or Smothers running the offense that Rhule will call more QB runs or at least RPOs. You almost have to.
An aside:
Am I to understand that Rhule has only had 2 starting QBs during his college stints?
PJ Walker for 3 years at temple and Brewer for 3 years at Baylor?
Probably has something to do with the improvement in record
Sure as hell doesn’t look like he’s got a 3 year starter here right now, but I suppose that’s what Dom Raiola’s on staff to change
As we saw with Zac Taylor, the first year in a new offensive system can be rough for a QB. The change in systems on both sides of the ball is my biggest concern about this first year. Having a veteran returning QB who knows your system would have been great. It’s too bad Rattler is such a flake. Our QBs need to spend a lot of time with the offense this summer

no he didn't and that is a good point.
Thompson's experience should be a huge help - he's played for some great offensive minds in front of monster crowds
Sims has started a lot of games, but he's kind of had to do it all by himself
the intrigue in today's college football is unmatched
