Well that's interesting, good news for Huskers. I wonder what that implies about the other QB whether we take two transfers or only one.
if the rpo is pass/run, we needed that.
so at least we have 1 qb in spring getting practice reps.
thompson can't run and smothers can't pass. (and both are lame ducks in spring)
we need at least 1 qb that can do both ok...
the purdy guy reminds me of johnney stanton...you hear alot then nothing happens.
so now we need the arkansas guy if the raiola mirical don't happen.

My guess is that they're assuming no CT since he apparently hasn't decided yet. At any rate he wouldn't be available for the Spring practice and there's no guarantee how he'll recover from surgery.
Georgia Tech transfer QB Jeff Sims commits to Nebraska
Nebraska has landed a commitment from Georgia Tech transfer QB Jeff Sims.
He has two years of eligibility left.
Sims is a native of Jacksonville, Fla., where he was a four-star prospect at Sandalwood High School, the state's 46th-ranked overall prospect and 11th-ranked dual-threat QB in the Class of 2020. He is ranked as the No. 32 QB prospect and the No. 193 overall player in the Rivals Transfer Rankings.
Sims was part of a huge, 18-person visitor weekend at Nebraska during the Dec. 9-11 weekend. Sims was one of the weekend's most important visitors as the Huskers continue to await the decision of Casey Thompson. No matter Thompson's decision, Sims is a big addition to Matt Rhule's first team and a crucial piece to Marcus Satterfield's offense that is in major need of playing experience at the Power Five level.
I expect at least one guy buried on the depth chart will leave.

As much as I didn't like CT, if Sims is the starter, we are in bigger trouble. He can run a little but was not an accurate passer. Good for depth purposes.

Sims, Hornsby and CT would give us a solid 3 deep. Then it's the Dylan Raiola era!! GBR!!
I think the issue is, do they have a place to go to that is acceptable to them.

Thing is I saw word a few days ago that the new coaches have told Haarberg they want him to stay and stay at QB.
Sims started 23 of the 24 games he played during three seasons with the Yellow Jackets. The 6-foot-3, 219-pound right-handed quarterback threw for 4,464 yards, 30 touchdowns, 23 interceptions and had a 57.5% career completion percentage. He also did damage with his legs, finishing with 1,166 yards rushing and 11 touchdowns.

What does #32 in the transfer portal QB mean?? There cannot be 31 higher rated QB's can there?

You are being too critical. Although 57.5% and his running will not win you championships, in the RPO system that Rhule likes to run, it will win you way more than the 4-5 games we are accustomed too lately. And, that is where Nebraska needs to start.
Well now we need to see who the other two players committing today are.
We need a dual threat QB. The times we had success in the B1G we had Tommy Armstrong and Taylor Martinez. We would have had much success with Adrian had he not made so many mistakes. People compare Sims to Tommy Armstrong, I‘ll take that with this staff.
Two. Outside of CT we have nothing at QB. He is still a question mark to return. Bring in Malik also.
One thing is certain. The QB run game is going to be a bigger part of our offense.

I’d like to see us pursue another one, but it could be a hard sell of circumstances.
This is where good coaching will hopefully make a difference.

Even Jammal Lord's 7-win '02 campaign is looking good 😒 Sims can't be any worse of a passer than Lord. I hope 😬 I'm willing to give anyone the coaches bring in during a transition class a welcome aboard. Rhule didn't have the portal previously so at least he's learning quickly.
