Is it just me or are there way to many empty slots?

CB = 0 in the junior class... To me that one stands out the most

Its just you; lol, actually its been discussed ad nausem. In some form or another. IMO , it comes down to how you correct it. I enjoy your posts, I have had the same reaction. Some quick thoughts:
- At this point we will only have 18 scholarships coming available for the next recruiting period. That would indicate we have been filling slots. So that goes to position distribution, a function of paying attention and the variable of player washouts. The AD and HCMR have added staff and emphasis to correct this.
- IMO opinion and previously T O 's as publicly stated - you set a minimum level for what you will offer a scholarship for. You may end up with a small class, but as younger guys start or play as a result - you will attract bigger numbers.
- Can also be a result of changing systems and how players fit; and other variables.
- I expect we will see around 22 scholarships come available for the next class. Maybe some natural attrition, but many want it more aggressively managed. Ala and Michigan get huge numbers of additional scholarship players by aggressive managements. New legislation seems to be gradually chipping away at this.
