Satt should be removed. Not impressed with his play calling. No creativity whatsoever. He either needs help or he needs to be replaced.
Not necessarily. As I've said here several times, a lot of people spent so much time hating on Raiola and Satt, they overlooked RB recruiting and performance that is subpar. He landed the RB. Family connection, apparently. He’s off the pitchfork crowd radar now.
Oh.. oop. Ok. Then Martin may be moved back to analyst. Maybe. I have no idea but wouldn’t mind Holgersen calling plays.I saw him taking a picture with the new RB commit.
I tend to think it’s been more recruiting to be at fault on the RB side. There hasn’t been much hope since Terrell Newby took over after Ameer left, outside of revenge porn kid. Frost had a couple talented recruits with attitude problems, so basically nothing. Dowdell will be at least serviceable and seems like a good kid. We have a good culture now to pair with that. Not necessarily. As I've said here several times, a lot of people spent so much time hating on Raiola and Satt, they overlooked RB recruiting and performance that is subpar.
Considering the injuries on the OL, new system and injuries at RB….what performance were you expecting? I could see the fumbles but that’s about it.Not necessarily. As I've said here several times, a lot of people spent so much time hating on Raiola and Satt, they overlooked RB recruiting and performance that is subpar.
I’ll credit coaching. Guessing if they lose again you’ll continue to blame the players and not the guys calling the plays, correct?Guessing when they win this year you’ll credit the talent and not the coach….
Making a bowl game with the worst schedule in Husker history. Surely our coaching is better than NW..Considering the injuries on the OL, new system and injuries at RB….what performance were you expecting? I could see the fumbles but that’s about it.
Well he wouldn't be holding the clipboard on the sidelines obviously calling in all the plays. He would be here as QB coach, or most likely an analyst. An analyst would be expected to "help out" in his position. He could assist with game planning in advance, etc. I don't know or can't remember if they are allowed to be any part of in game decisions or on headset to give advice in that role.zero chance it works
which is why I believe there's zero chance it happens
would be amazing to add Holgorson in any capacity. would be incredible to have him call plays.
I just don't think Rhule will publicly embarrass his friend like that. and I also don't believe Rhule would hire a guy to call plays he's never worked with before unless his hand was forced - which, again, no chance.
Sorry you gotta go with the NPC narrative that all our players are badWhen you have the worst offense in history and one of the worst in the nation in addition to leading the nation in turnovers you to change something.
And that Satt coached two good games onceSorry you gotta go with the NPC narrative that all our players are bad

Has Rhule ever called plays on D?Did he work with Tony White before?
Rhule seems extremely "hands on" with his entire program.Has Rhule ever called plays on D?
Is Rhule extremely hands on on D?
No. To both.
I’m talking about offense. Obviously.
There’s only one coordinator quoted as saying Rhule had input in play calls last year.Rhule seems extremely "hands on" with his entire program.

Spoiler: it wasn’t White
The point of my post was Satt and Riaola had to deal with the same injury problems and didn't get a pass, so why should Barthel?Considering the injuries on the OL, new system and injuries at RB….what performance were you expecting? I could see the fumbles but that’s about it.
He didn’t call defensive plays. Never has.Rhule didn't have input in the defense? Interesting take.
Injuries hurt the RB room this past year. BUT that said, I'm not impressed with the RB coach. Personally I think he's the weakest link on the coaching staff. Not at all impressed with his recruiting either. JMO.The point of my post was Satt and Riaola had to deal with the same injury problems and didn't get a pass, so why should Barthel?
As far as recruiting, the reason we got Dowdell is Oregon had three better backs ahead of him he couldn't beat out. When are we going to have a stable like that again? I would have liked to see us get at least one really good back out of high school this cycle. EJ put all his eggs in one guy's basket (Lacy) and he bailed on us.
As far as performance, we had a guy (Grant) who had no fumbling problem last year who suddenly developed one this year. We had a running back rotation that in my opinion was weird. They started different guys from game to game, and it seems like the minute somebody got a hot hand and started establishing a rhythm (Ervin), he got pulled. I perceived from my vantage point up in the 600 section the the backs often ran into traffic instead of the designed crease. That shows me the backs either didn't understand the play design, it was not communicated to them, or they don't have good "feel". And wtf is going on with Rahmir? The guy gets yards all the time when he gets a chance and went full-on milk carton last year.
Rahmir went full on season ending injury, but was clearly a guy Rhule trusted on the field. NU lost the #6 back of 2024 and gained the #8 back of 2023. Pretty much an even trade. The point of my post was Satt and Riaola had to deal with the same injury problems and didn't get a pass, so why should Barthel?

He's the head coach. He played defense in college. You don't think he has some input on what goes on defense? He didn’t call defensive plays. Never has.
He did call plays on offense. Just like usual.
Apparently you don’t read posts. I posted they now have the talent to win now.I’ll credit coaching. Guessing if they lose again you’ll continue to blame the players and not the guys calling the plays, correct?
Agreed. For the record, Dowdell was the Rivals No. 6 back. Oregon also landed Jayden Limar, the No. 9 back, in that class. Kwinten Ives was not rated in the top 50 backs.Rahmir went full on season ending injury, but was clearly a guy Rhule trusted on the field. NU lost the #6 back of 2024 and gained the #8 back of 2023. No doubt we shouldn’t have gone 0-4 down the line. It’s too bad we didn’t have a QB that could run a basic play. That will be remedied this year. We beat NW so our coaching must be…Making a bowl game with the worst schedule in Husker history. Surely our coaching is better than NW..
I am saying he didn't call plays on defense. He's the head coach. He played defense in college. You don't think he has some input on what goes on defense?
Interesting take.
Don't be so sensitive. You said he wouldn't hire somebody he didn't know. But he's already done that. Which is all I pointed out.I am saying he didn't call plays on defense.
he was holding a playsheet on offense & actively calling plays the final quarter+ of the season.
did you wake up in the mood to argue, jnebby? maybe take this shit out on your wife first.
I said I wouldn't think he'd hire someone he didn't already know to call plays on offense (use your context clues, kiddo!)Don't be so sensitive. You said he wouldn't hire somebody he didn't know. But he's already done that. Which is all I pointed out.
Try washing the sand out of your panties.
Don't know why I downgraded him. Oregon has a comparable (if not better) RB room to what NU had in 2011. NU had Rex, AA, Heard and Green. Both Green and Heard were top 10 RB recruits in their classes. AA was not as well regarded, but turned out to be the best of the lot. If Dowdell has the kind of productivity that Green had at TCU in his last 2 years (922 and 1272), I'll take that every day and twice on Sundays.Agreed. For the record, Dowdell was the Rivals No. 6 back. Oregon also landed Jayden Limar, the No. 9 back, in that class. Kwinten Ives was not rated in the top 50 backs.
Wrong about the schedule as usual..Making a bowl game with the worst schedule in Husker history. Surely our coaching is better than NW..

then you entered with pointless neither here nor there non-sequiturs
as a result of your input, everyone who reads this thread will now be confused at best, dumber at worst
Here's you saying zero chance it happens...three times.zero chance it works
which is why I believe there's zero chance it happens

I said there's zero chance Satt + Holgorsen as co-play callers works. because having co-play callers literally never works anywhere. Here's you saying zero chance it happens...three times.
I only pointed out that he had already hired a guy he didn't know personally to run his defense.
I said there's zero chance Satt + Holgorsen as co-play callers works. because having co-play callers literally never works anywhere.
and because Rhule is smart and knows this, I believe there's zero chance he would put either guy in that situation.
you know, the topic of this thread.
Rhule hasn't coached defense since 2006. he's never called defensive plays. ever. White's hire is neither here nor there and purely an attempt by you to derail this thread by arguing some tedious minutia with me.
Rhule has been an OC, however. he called offensive plays this year. Satt was quoted as saying he's extremely hands-on with the offense. to my knowledge, Rhule has never hired an offensive play caller that he hadn't worked with previously (could be wrong, open to correction).
thus, my comment.
I really hope you're wrong. Rhule hired a guy never worked with before to run the defense and that worked out pretty well. I can't think that Rhule loved watching that offense year one, so something other than a freshman QB needs to change.I just don't think Rhule will publicly embarrass his friend like that. and I also don't believe Rhule would hire a guy to call plays he's never worked with before unless his hand was forced - which, again, no chance.
wasn't clear? That wasn't clear in your "zero chance" post, thus follow up questions.
Agreed on the co-cord deal. That's not gonna happen.
How does that marriage work from an Xs and Os standpoint?
Yep. You said he wouldn't hire a coach he didn't know. That's when I pointed out that he has already done that. You then clarified that you were talking about offense only.wasn't clear?
it was a direct reply to the OP's question:
Satt has only been the OC with Rhule at 1 stop Temple. He was OC/Qb , but the 2nd year he wasn’t the QB that was the change not OC demotion. At Baylor he wasTE coach only. If Severe said this he doesn’t know what he is talking about.I was listening to Severe Reaction during the season, and he mentioned that Rhule has demoted Satt from play calling at 2 stops so far. I didn’t confirm that for myself, but thought I heard that on the show.
