Just heard Sam McKewon on 93.7 the ticket and man can you tell that guy has a stick up his butt already regarding Diaco.

Talking about how he uses big words to sound smart and to get people to not ask follow up questions. How he seems like the band of brothers psuedo military wanna be types. Run like Kansas and their dorm for basketball players. That it seems "communist" or "socialist".

Got to where i was going and had no desire to listen further. This guy just want coaches at Nebraska to kiss his ass or what? Dont get the disdain for Diaco already.

Diaco is young enough to have not yet forgotten the amount of football that Sam M knows.

Our press here is full of idiots. Half of them look here on what to write topical articles about. A good chunk of them likely never played one real snap of tackle football either...

Most of these clowns in the media (Print or Radio) have never played or coached a down of football in their life. Like others have said they read different boards or other articles and just regurgitate what they read or hear. Prime example was that puke Matt Perrault. I wanted to climb through the radio and choke that whinny ass out. Then he came to Des Moines. Thank God he didn't last long.

Listening now...sounds like a philosophical disagreement but Diaco in my opinion is certainly entitled to try anything at his disposal and if it comes off as communist of socialist but nets results then have it Comrade. Sam complemented how well he coaches and how he teaches and communicates. So it wasnt all dismissive
 
I can't stand his general pessimism in his writing. I never have a single clue what he wants out of Nebraska football. I'm actually glad Diaco answered him like that. Sometimes it needs to be a little more secret what goes on behind the scenes.

That's why I stray away from reading the article in the OWH or LJS anymore. It's information I can find on my own. Plus, almost all the quotes sound the freaking same.

Sam is the worst, I love how he is always trying to get in the camera shot during coach/player interviews
 
not sure about either of them, time will tell on what our record is next year.

Sam is an idiot. He makes his living off the same fans he used to trash.
 
The guy is a bit nuts and also has a thin skin from what I saw previously at CT. Watch some of his old press conferences and then you do the math. I've seen him tee off on the media, and it reminded me of exactly how the room felt with the last clown with similar traits.

I don't know if he will be successful or not, but if things start tilting in a negative direction, be ready for whole lot of drama.

I'm trying to be restrained, ahh to hell with it.

They hired an ass hat to coach the defense that can't even control himself... luckily, he's just a coordinator though, and I think the defense will be improved. Yep, we can see improvement and have a volatile coordinator. I just hope he doesn't go dress down Urban Meyer for not substituting players late in the game.

LOL. Diaco may be eccentric, but would definitely like to see links showing this type of behavior.
 
It ain't Sam's fault though. Like I could watch plays every week for years at the Rose Blumkin place and not know what the hell I'm supposed to be seeing and/or looking for. It's basically the same deal with Sam watching practice every day.

All you have to do is check out Sam's weekly AP poll selections. I started checking them weekly this past season. It was clear he has no idea about college football. He'd have teams with 3-4 losses in the top ten.

If he gets the results I expect, he can be as weird as he wants with the media as far as I'm concerned. The last clown was basically above reproach until his defenses quit getting stops late in 2010.

The misconception is that football is complicated. It is not more complicated than science/engineering, mathematics, writing, health and medicine, construction management,etc and a majority of fans could easily pick up the game if they dedicated their lives to such a pointless pursuit. Football is entertainment, and nothing more, and football coaches are not geniuses, but they are often very dedicated to learning their craft. A craft that sickeningly makes millions, even when its impact on society is very tiny. I have spent my entire life around coaches, and coaches are in general disgusting. Big money sport is corrupting in itself, as the only goal is winning, but many coaches invest in such a thing for money and pure competition, except they have to manipulate the young to reach their goals. There is no greater good, or final success, but win or lose, and in the college game all coaches get rich. If recent NU history is any indication, then most disparaging remarks about our coaches have been close to the mark, and we are talking about dozens of coaches with major personality flaws, more than a few have broken the law while hired at NU, and nearly all have been given a slap on the wrist and opportunities that no average joe would ever get after sleeping with young girls, coworkers wives, drinking, drugging, and abusing themselves and those around them. If a journalist points out character flaws two months into a tenure, it is wise to pay attention.

Who cares about any of this irrelevant shit? Just win baby. Nick Saban is a fiery coach too who screams at people on the sideline. And if a certain Mr. Pelini had won titles, all would have been forgiven him too and we would be singing the praises of his fiery demeanor.

Winning cures everything. I don't care if Diaco is as mad as a hatter. Just win.

As with just about everything else in life, there are people (the media in general) that when they cannot do it, they will not hesitate to talk sh*t about it or about the people who do it.

Reminds me of a professor at UNO a few years ago who taught business. Not kidding, business. This is who he was in the real world....He'd buy something from a bike shop, use it for a year, and return it for a full refund. Shoes, helmet, shorts, you know, stuff you could never put back out on the floor and resell, but rather stuff you'd just have to "eat". What kind of college professor who teaches business no less, would do that to a real business? Somebody who's a completely clueless idiot. He is the perfect example of "Those who can't, teach". Now I understand there are tons of great teachers, I know that, and I don't mean to offend all teachers.

Lol Sam McKewon is the one who tries to use big words to make people think he's smarter than he is. Sometimes out of context.

I could write the same bizzare diatribe that you did but replace "coaches" with "journalists". Journalist often act like they have complete moral superiority and moral high ground while they often live their own lives in no such way.

As you said, he's the DC not HC and that's a huuuge difference. Charlie McBride was the same way but didn't have the media access back then.

There's a really good chance he knew exactly what he was doing, but was a cheap dick. That would fit the profile of a lot of different people, including business profs.
 
Diaco is definitely an amped up kind of guy. Elliot appears to run cool. Fire and Ice. Will Parrella, Williams and Bray be like luke warm water, ala Derek Smalls?

I was a college prof. And most college profs I worked with were pompous, self important turds. One of the reasons I retired early from that sham world of ostentatious peacocks.
And I think a lot of football coaches are the same: all about money and ego.
But I think none of it has to do with whether or not they have fiery personalities or not. And as I said above, who cares?
Win. Win. Win. That is what fans want from their coaches. Everything else is just pissing into the wind
