His list includes P5 jobs near recruiting hotbeds. You have to ask yourself to step back and be objective, that's a hard thing to do when you are a fan. With that said Florida State and A&M have huge built in advantages Nebraska can't compare to, geography.

Money and faculties along with a rich history and strong fan support are all present in Lincoln. The issue is every big time recruit in Florida or Texas knows Nebraska as the place where fans expectations are stuck in the 90's. None of them have known a great Husker program.

Nebraska can't win without recruits from these states. They can't rely on instate talent like FSU or A&M can.

I would maintain our geography actually helps us...Lincoln and Omaha have populations nearly a million people, but are within 5 hours of Des Moines, St.Louis, Kansas City, and even Chicago. We are closer to those metros than any other major competitor outside of Iowa. And we are the only state university, meaning when we are on, we get EVERYONE from our state, and some for free. Our competition in our area is also pathetic... Kansas, Kansas State, Iowa, Iowa State, Missouri have such poor facilities, fan support, and investment that it is laughable. The first step is to dominate the states that border us...get every great player and go from there.

Yet Nebraska hasn't won a conf title since 1999 (even with all the above advantages), while teams since then like Iowa has 2 and Kansas State has 1 (i.e. that's not murders row of competition you are dealing with...most of those teams don't even get ranked in the Top 25).

Yea and A&M and Florida have one huge built in disadvantages that Nebraska can't compare to.........idiot fan bases.

Yep we lost our way to be sure and especially for conference titles - however it is a bit misleading to say we have totally sucked since 1999

  • 2000 we were ranked #1 for first 7 weeks and finished #9 with 2 losses OU who we lost to won the MNC
  • 2001 played for MNC
  • 2006 played for Big12 title in sub zero weather we lost a close game to OU who we out gained
  • 2009 - we lost to undefeated Texas with a disputed 1 second call
  • 2010 - we lost to OU while throwing to the end zone to go up 24 to 7 we were intercepted and OU went on to win a close game
  • 2012 - favored against a Wisconsin team we had beaten earlier in the season - blown out this was true start of down fall of Pelini
After then winning 9 games to the start of the Riley era although getting blown out a time or two every year we then hired Riley and we have totally sucked the last three years

Very easily we could have had two or three conference titles but alas we have been shut out. However the competition was not cupcake - OU, Texas, Wisconsin, OSU, and so on

PS Iowa has made up conference titles they have not won an undisputed one

You need to look at a calendar it is not 1971 or even 1995 it is 2017, Nebraska's facilities are probably not even top 5 in the B1G. Whatever you're smoking you should have never left Colorado.

I think you better do some research. Just a 2-3 years ago Fox Sports ranked the Husker locker room No 1. I know Texas has opened up a new locker rooms since that article, but I still have to think the Husker's have to be up there. Maybe you are getting confused with Colorado. I haven't paid attention lately, but their facilities always lagged behind the other schools when they were in the Big 12.

I like the probably comment. You have no idea.

Who gives a shit? It’s up to the Huskers to change the narrative. Hopefully they can do that sooner rather than later.

I don't know if any fan base can be labeled as more rabid or idiotic than another. Painting with broad strokes can be messy, you might just find yourself covered as well.

You are an idiot if you think jobs like ASU and aTm are better jobs than Nebraska. I get that you are upset you are losing your coach, but you don’t need to make yourself look ignorant too.

Both are MUCH better. UT is a top 25 recruiting school. Nebraska is one of the worst P5 schools in the country to recruit to. You guys have great fans but the actual job there is terrible: high expectations, recruiting difficulties.

Golly, thanks for your enlightened opinion.

Nobody ever said that Nebraska was easy to recruit to. But it’s not even close to one of the worst P5 schools to recruit to. You’re full of shit 100% and recruiting rankings prove it.

Shouldn’t you be out passing around a boot to raise some money to help keep your “stadium” from being condemned or something?

Your recruiting nonsense is laughable. The last 10 years we have an average recruiting ranking of 24 per rivals, with average coaches. We also have top 10 facilities and are a top 10 traditional power.

That' is the problem with you guys. You live in sec country and only know what spews from the ESPN mouth pieces. Nebraska has to travel a bit further to recruit heck that is true for many many schools and many of these schools beat the Florida teams every year. NU is one of the best P5 jobs in the country

If we are that terrible to recruit to why did Bill Callahan consistently recruit top 15 classes with one as high as number 2? Hell even Pelini who hated recruiting had the 11th ranked recruiting class in the nation in 2011.

Wisconsin Wisconsin Wisconsin. Outside WI having more population - everything else that matters (money, facilities, average recruiting rankings, etc.) favor Nebraska. Wisky has done a much better job optimizing what they have vs. Nebraska. That is what the new staff needs to do - optimize what we have. It won't be a quick fix but there is a heck of alot already in place including good talent. We are not delusional enough to think we can be Alabama every year - but EVERY PLAYER SHOULD HAVE A CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP RING WHEN THEY LEAVE LINCOLN (if they play 4 or 5 years). That needs to be the goal. Do that - the MNC chances will be there.
